(Mia's POV)
We finally arrive at our destination for our honeymoon. I'd booked us a beautiful villa in Costa Rica right next to the beach. "Are you sure this is the place?" Char asks as we walk along the pathway to our villa. "I really don't remember it being this fancy... Amelia Roberts!" She gasps in realisation. I just grin and nod back at her. "There's no way you actually upgraded us without telling me," she says placing her hands on her hips. "Yup," I smile. "Don't look at me like that baby, it's our honeymoon I had to." I take both her hands and pull her closer to me to kiss her lips, a small smile painted across her face. "What are you like?"She sighs. "First the surprise first class flight here and now this."
She lets go of my hands and pulls me into a tight hug. "Happy honeymoon sweetheart," I whisper in her ear. "Happy honeymoon," she whispers back as we pull away. We hold hands again and our suitcases and take ourselves inside. Before she has a chance to say anything, I pick Char up swiftly as soon as our bags are down and our shoes are off. She giggles as I carry her across the kitchen and through the doors to the poolside. "You wouldn't dare Amelia Roberts!" She laughs. "Wanna bet?" I say before tossing her into the pool. "Amelia!" She squeals as her head comes up above the water, the makeup around her eyes all smudged giving her panda eyes.
I laugh and jump in after her, wrapping my arms around the nape of her neck as my head re-emerges above the water. I rake her wet hair out of her face with my fingers, both of us panting and gasping before I slowly kiss her. "I look like a drowned.." she starts. "Shut up you're gorgeous," I whisper before kissing her again. She wraps one leg around me under the water as we continue kissing, our hands tangled in each other's hair. Both of us gasp like crazy for air between kisses, but none of us fully letting go. She mumbles incoherently into my lips as I gently nibble hers.
Our tongues overlap as we hold onto each other tightly to stay afloat in the water. "I love you," I whisper as we release, our faces still so close together the words are almost painted across her lips. "I love you too," she whispers back. I swim us towards the shallow end of the pool until my feet can touch the ground before pulling her closer so her legs are wrapped around mine in our tight embrace. "I'm glad you're mine," I whisper before kissing her shoulder.
I look over her shoulder at the beautiful orange and yellow sunset, the sun glistening over the horizon. I then look back at my wife, rested on my shoulder so peacefully, smiling as I feel her warm breath flow onto my neck. All I could do was wonder how I ever got so lucky that she let me be her wife. "Are you cold baby?" I ask noticing her body start to shiver. "A little," she says chattering her teeth. I kiss the top of her head gently before picking her up and carrying her in my arms out of the pool. Her arms cling around my neck as I take her inside, putting her down on the marble kitchen floor gently. "Wait here I'll grab us towels," I say starting to shiver a little myself. I find two white towels in the bathroom and bring them back, wrapping one around myself and the other around Char as I hug her.
"Mia?" She mumbles into my shoulder with a small yawn. "Mmm," I reply. "Can we go on a walk along the beach before bed?" She asks, her adorable blue eyes looking straight up at me. "Of course sweetheart," I say. "Let's go and change clothes." We both grab our suitcases and find our bedroom, dumping them into the floor and opening them to find some clothes. I pull out a black sleeveless beach dress and Char finds herself an adorable floral playsuit. I take off my shorts which are clinging to my skin from the water and kick them off along with my wet underwear. "It's ok sweetheart you can stare," I tease feeling her eyes on me as I bend down to the suitcase to find a clean pair of underwear. Char blushes a little as I look back at her, pulling the underwear back on before stepping into my dress.
"God," Char struggles trying to unzip herself out of her soaking wet dress. "This stupid thing." "Do you need a hand?" I ask. She nods letting go of the zip as I come behind her to unzip her. I pull the dress down to her waist slowly, letting the wet material loosen from her skin. I roll it down her legs before she steps out of it from her ankles. "Thanks," she whispers as I come back up and wrap my arms around her waist in the mirror.
I can hear her mumbling something but I'm completely engrossed in gazing at her figure and stroking her hips that I can't make out what she's saying. "Amelia," she says loudly snapping me back into focus. "Were you listening to me just now?" "Yeah," I lie. "What did I say then?" She asks smirking, knowing I wouldn't have an answer. "Sorry," I whisper. "You're just really pretty right now." I kiss her cheek as she smiles, her cheeks blushing slightly.
"Do you want this off?" I ask tugging at her bra strap. "Please," she whispers. I undo the back of her bra making it fall to the floor. I hug her in the mirror, watching her smile as I trace my hands around her curves softly, admiring how gorgeous she is. I kiss her lips quickly before grabbing her jumpsuit off the floor and handing it her to put on. She steps into it before I zip up the back for her and give her one last hug in the mirror before we slide our feet into flip flops and leave.
I hold Char's hand and lead her down to the cobble stoned pathway to the beach. The beach is all dark and empty, the waves crashing the shore slowly. I turn Char around, grabbing both her hands and looking straight into her eyes which glisten in the moonlight. I kiss the backs of her hands slowly before pulling her in to kiss her lips. "Shall we?" She asks, taking my arm to walk along the shore. "Let's," I smile taking her lead as we walk across the empty beach. "Sweetheart when we get back I have a surprise for you," I say. "Amelia you need to stop treating me honestly. I don't deserve you," she smiles. "Sweetheart I won't stop treating you for as long as I live," I say stopping us in our tracks. "You deserve to be loved baby so excuse me if I want to make the love of my life feel special occasionally."
"You said that in your serious voice," Char says half-smiling. "Because I am serious baby," I smile holding her by the waist. "I seriously adore you." She beams widely and takes my hand as we continue to walk along the sand. I smile as I look into my sweetheart's eyes, the stars starting to emerge in the sky. I start pacing us up to a light jog, dragging Char on behind me making her giggle. I continue to run us along the length of the beach, both of us laughing and panting as we go along. "Mia," Char gasps as I finally stop us. "Can we come back now I'm tired." "Alright sweetheart I'll carry you," I say picking her up in my arms bridal style and carrying us both back up the beach.
I carry her all the way back to the pathway and inside the bedroom. "You are so strong," Char says as she lands on the bed. I shrug proudly before going to my suitcase to find Char's next surprise. "Close your eyes," I say as I produce a small black box from my suitcase, tied with a red ribbon. She closes her eyes and I put the box into her lap before telling her "open." She gasps as she looks down at the box, eagerly untying the ribbon and opening the lid. "Oh my goodness," she whispers seeing the content of the box, tears starting to form in her eyes. "Mia this is beautiful."
The box contains several letters in old brown envelopes, all decorated with small black ribbons on the front. "Just a little honeymoon gift," I say sitting next to her at the foot of the bed. "Read this first." I hand her the folded paper sat on top of the letters. She unfolds it and reads the small note inside.
"To my darling Charlotte, by the time you receive this we would have already been married and on our honeymoon. I've written you these letters for you to read whenever you need me and I can't be there. Consider these your goodnight kisses, your morning cuddles and your comfort hugs when you're feeling down when I'm not around. Distance can separate us all it wants but my heart will always hold you even when my arms cannot.
There are no rules to when you may open them I could be right beside you or a million miles away, you could be filled with sorrow or be jumping for joy. They're labelled for each occasion so open when needed and keep them if you need them again. Love you forever,
Amelia x""Baby," Char whispers with tears in her eyes. She wraps her arms around me in a tight embrace. I rock her gently in the hug, kissing the top of her head several times. "You're the best," she says as we let go before holding my face to give me a quick kiss. "I may have gotten you a little honeymoon gift too," she smiles producing a large scrapbook, tied shut with a white ribbon.
I untie it and flick through the book slowly, each page containing a picture of us together and little quotes and messages surrounding them. I can feel myself start to well up as I look through all our memories from holidays and candle-lit dinners to quiet evenings snuggled up in bed together. "Sweetheart this is perfect," I sniff before bringing her back in for another hug. "I'll cherish it forever." I kiss her lips softly, smiling into the kiss. "Look at us," Char smiles. "What a cute couple we make." "Indeed," I say putting my arm around her.
