(Char's POV)
"Hello sweetheart," Mia says coming into the room where I'm sat at the desk writing notes up for work. She wraps her arms around the back of the chair and attacks my face with kisses, stopping me in my tracks. "When are you gonna be done I miss you?" "I'm literally right here," I laugh. "I know," she grumbles into the crook of my neck. "I just miss cuddling you, I don't like it when you're all the way over here." She kisses me all over my forehead and cheeks, then down my neck making me giggle into each one.
"You're really cute Amelia Roberts but this isn't going to speed things up." "Then I'm not leaving," she declares wrapping her arms back around mine tightly, clinging on for dear life as I try and free my arms to start typing again. "You're really beautiful today poppet," Mia whispers in my ear before laying a tender kiss on my temple. "That's not fair Mia," I sigh turning around to face her. "You know you always get your own way when you call me that and now you're going to make me miss this deadline."
"Sweetheart, poppet, baby, cherub, Lotts, love of my life," Mia says kissing my cheek as she gushingly calls me each sweet little nickname which makes my cheeks go pink. She lifts my chin to meet her eyes, a worried frown curling on her lips. "Exactly how much sleep did you get last night while you were working on those reports?" "Ummm...." I mutter, Mia shooting me a knowing expression as I try to think up a reasonable number of hours even though both of us know it was far too little. "Like.... three or four?"
Mia takes the computer and scrolls down the long documents. "I'll tell you what sweetheart why don't I write these up for you and you have a rest?" "Mia you can't do that," I protest. She places a gentle kiss on the centre of my forehead. "I can and I will. Pass me your notes and I'll write it all in full for you, it will be submitted by the deadline I promise. Now stop being so stubborn and take a quick nap." She glances over at the clock. "The twins won't be up from their nap for another hour by the time they're awake this will be done and we can have some nice family time."
"You're the best ever," I smile handing her over the notes. I get out the seat and Mia sits in my place, patting her lap. "Come lie here on me sweetheart, make yourself comfy." I curl myself up on her lap, smiling to myself as she combs her fingers through my hair and kisses the top of my head before starting to type. I listen to the rhythm of her typing and feel her bellies rise underneath me as she breathes, feeling my body finally relax and letting myself sleep. I feel so safe in her arms. Like nothing in the world matters anymore.
Next thing I know, she's woken me up with a kiss. The sound of the alarm still murmuring in the background until she turns it off. "All done now sweetheart," she whispers as I open my eyes slowly and sit myself up in her lap so wrap her in a warm embrace. "Did you have a nice nap?" "Mmm," I nod. "Thank you for that baby I really appreciate it." "It's no problem at all," she smiles stroking her hands through my hair. "Shall we go and wake the twins up now?" "Ok," I mumble, letting her lift me up from the desk and hugging me for a few more moments before going to the twin's room.
"Cece, Fraya," I whisper turning their main light on slowly. "Wakey wakey girls." They both sit up, rubbing their eyes cutely. "Hello Mummy," Cece yawns. I pick her up into my arms, pulling the hood down on her panda onesie and fixing her cute bed head curls. "That's a nice cuddle you're giving me," I smile bouncing her gently over my shoulder. "Ice cuddle," she repeats. "Ice panda cuddle." "That's right sweetie, nice panda cuddle," I coo. I look over at Mia who's holding Fraya. "Did you sleep well pumpkin?" She asks her. "Leep well," Fraya babbles. "Fray-Fray leep well." "They're so cute when they can't quite talk properly," Mia awes. "Why can't they be my little babies forever?"
"They will be," I say quickly stroking her arm. "They'll always be our babies even when they've moved out and they don't want their mummies anymore." "No," Cece pipes, an adorable toddler frown worn across her face. "No. Me want Mummy... fowewer." She grips her little hand around my finger and clings on as tightly as she can. "Mummy no go away." I feel tears starting to form in my eyes, glancing over at Mia to notice she's also welling up. "Mummy won't ever go away little one, Mummy will always be here for you, and your sisters." Fraya wraps her legs around Mia, snuggling herself in tightly. "Wuv Mamma," she babbles. "Wuv Mummy."
"They're so precious," Mia mouths to me, her eyes filling up with tears. "Quack!" Fraya randomly blurts out of nowhere making both of us giggle. "That's my daughter," I laugh. "I had a fun idea," Mia says. "How about we watch a movie, all four of us? We've got hours left before the school run." "Sounds like a plan," I smile. "What do you think girls? Shall we watch a movie?" "Mooie!" They both babble ecstatically, clapping their hands. "Mooie! Mooie!" "That's a yes then," Mia says before we carry the girls downstairs and set up the film.
Mia picks her favourite Disney film, Mulan, which I know she's been dying to watch with the girls ever since my pregnancy. She rubs my belly affectionately as we snuggle on the sofa, the girls on either side of us. "I've wanted to show my kids this film since forever sweetheart. And now they're here in the big wide world." "I know,"
I smile softly wrapping one arm around Fraya. "Our babies." Mia leans in for a quick kiss before I rest my head onto her shoulder and start to close my eyes. I hear faint babbles of the girls talking to Mia about all the details of the film. It makes me slightly emotional hearing the soft sounds of conversation from my wife and our kids. Just chatting away happily like an adorable family. The sound of the movie and the chatter gets gradually quieter as I fall asleep on Mia's shoulder, feeling Fraya leaning her head against my arm and the light brush of Mia's lips against my temple before I fully doze off.
