Down in Grumbot's cave, a wall cracked.
The robot made a concerned bleep, but still the wall continued to crack.
Between the cracks, purple light pulsated with energy.
Then, chunks of stone fell to the floor, leaving a huge hole in the wall.
Purple light and energy poured from the hole and bathed the cave in it.
Grian was sitting next to the rift with a notebook. The rift intrigued him, and ever since it appeared, he'd spent plenty of time sitting next to it to make observations about it.
He had at least one and a half notebooks full of information on the rift, especially after one or two item appeared through it. Some were notes, and others mobs, and yet still others looked like keepsakes people had lost.
Whenever he had gotten anything from the last category, he'd kept it no longer than an hour. After studying it for about an hour, he tossed it right back, knowing there was someone on the other side that lost something.
He just hoped those things went back to the correct person...
Other things he tossed into the rift included: notes with questions (which he hoped to get answered), the fox that was sent through (undoubtedly having wandered in on accident), and some sweets (which were sent right back).
All the experiments he conducted never proved anything. Anytime he speculated he knew how the rift worked, something happened to prove that theory wrong.
So he kept trying to find the truth about the rift, determined to get one step ahead of this hole in the wall, which almost seemed to know what it was doing, like a sentient being.
His explanation continued, leaving him stuck in the cave, not taking care of himself or Grumbot, who finally had enough one day.
He sent a message to the admin of the server, so he could come drag Grian away from his research. For his well being of course, and also because the hermits were beginning to miss him after such a long time of not seeing him.
