Chapter 26: Peony

Bao Xia looked at the young lady who was unconscious and could not wake up, got up and said, "I'll go check on her, you stay here to take care of the Eldest Miss."

"Okay."

Bao Xia meandered through the labyrinthine courtyards on behalf of the young lady. Bao Xia was best at remembering Bao Xia possessed a remarkable ability to recall faces, a talent honed through years of attentive observation. She was certain she had never crossed paths with this young woman before, not even in the most fleeting of encounters.

With a posture that exuded both confidence and humility, Bao Xia approached the young lady. Her voice, a gentle melody, carried a note of respect as she posed her question. "This servant dares to ask the young lady, may I know who has entrusted you to come here?"

The words were simple, yet they carried a weight that belied their brevity.

The young woman pulled back the curtain, revealing a face with scars crisscrossing her face. When Bao Xia was startled but did not show disgust, the young woman nodded satisfactorily and held up a small bottle in her palm.

Bao Xia immediately understood, with a smile on her face, she ushered the young woman inside, "This medicine is really useful. I was worried before about running out of medicine, but now with this medicine, our Eldest Miss can suffer less."

The woman remained silent, but her demeanor softened slightly. With the servant caring for her like this, the master should not be too bad.

As she smelled the faint scent of alcohol in the room, the woman raised her eyebrows and, after checking the pulse and examining the wound in detail, she spoke her first words, "Cleaned with alcohol?"

Contrary to her appearance, the woman's voice sounded very energetic, and not as aloof as her temperament.

Bao Xia hurriedly replied, "Before Eldest Miss fainted, she instructed to clean with alcohol. Is there a problem?"

"Very good." If she hadn't been so ruthless, she would probably have a high fever by now. It was hard to imagine that this seemingly gentle girl could be so cruel to herself. No wonder the Shizi took a second look at her.

After changing the medicine again, the woman took out two bottles from the medicine box and wrote out a prescription. Seeing this, Bao Xia carefully chose her words and asked for the medicine, "Our Eldest Miss is a girl after all, it's not appropriate to have scars on her body. I wonder if the lady has any medicine to remove scars..."

Suddenly realizing that the girl in front of her was covered in scars, Bao Xia was afraid of touching a sore spot and causing displeasure. She quickly added, "I have no other intentions, it's just... since I served the Eldest Miss when she was young, I feel uncomfortable seeing her bitten by mosquitoes. Now that the Eldest Miss is injured like this, it's mostly for protecting us. If she has to bear these scars, I..."

Bao Xia's already swollen eyes turned red again, looking pitiful. The woman gave her a glance, "There is, but not now."

What does that mean?

There was before but not now?

Or is it that there is, but not now, and later there will be?

Bao Xia blinked, hoping the woman would say more.

The woman put her medicine box on her back and walked out, "I'll come back in two days."

Bao Xia was delighted and ran after her, "May I ask the lady's name? My Miss will want to know when she wakes up, so please leave a your name."
