Chapter 34: Returning Home

Busy with various tasks, Hua Zhi stayed at the Manor for a whole month. Her injury had healed well and no one, unaware of the situation, could tell that she had been injured.

Finally, she went to the cellar one last time and Bao Xia skillfully opened a jar of preserved fruits, handing a portion to the young lady.

Hua Zhi took a delicate bite, savoring the juice, the sweet and tangy flavors a comforting reminder of home. She nodded in approval, her eyes filled with a sense of contentment. "Maintain this level of excellence," she commanded, her voice soft yet firm, a gentle reminder of her authority and expectations.

"Yes," Bao Xia smiled in response. Not just the personal maids of these young ladies, but all the workers in the workshop could enjoy a portion of the preserved fruits every day.

Once they tasted it and saw that it could be preserved and was delicious, they no longer worried about its quality. By the time winter came with scarce fruits, these preserved fruits would definitely sell well.

Looking at the abundance of preserved peaches in the cellar, Hua Zhi felt a sense of fullness in her heart.

As autumn approached, the daytime temperature remained high. Standing in the sunlight, any hint of chill would soon dissipate.

Hua Zhi looked at Bao Xia and softly instructed, "Gradually let go of the workshop's affairs. Liu Qi and Liu Jiang are quite competent and won't make mistakes. Xu Jie will arrive in four or five days at most. Teach them how to process oranges before you return."

"Yes." Bao Xia whispered her agreement. She didn't want to leave the young lady's side, but she wouldn't disobey her orders either.

"If Shao Yao comes, send her to the Hua family to find me."

"Yes."

The people in the workshop knew that the eldest miss was leaving today. Although they kept working as they saw a group of people coming out from the Moon Gate, their eyes kept flickering in this direction.

Hua Zhi paid no attention to their subtle gestures and instructed Liu Qi and Liu Jiang, who were waiting in front of her, "Manage the workshop well. If there are any issues, go to the Hua family to find me."

"Yes."

The workshop was now divided into internal and external sections. Liu Qi managed the internal affairs, overseeing the critical steps in the backyard.

Hua Zhi signed a contract with Liu Jiang, appointing him as the manager of the external affairs, overseeing the workers in the front yard.

The laborers performing tasks like cleaning and peeling were selected from tenant households. Despite Hua Zhi's strict rules, the generous monthly wages motivated the workers to work diligently, fearing they might displease the main family and lose the job.

Liu Jiang, who was already popular and somewhat clever, quickly adapted to his managerial role and excelled. However, his happiness was short-lived as he heard that the eldest miss was returning to the city, causing him anxiety.

Concerned about his sister facing hardships in the strict Hua family, he felt even more distressed at the thought of their rare meetings in the future.

Liu Juan also felt bitter and dare not look at her brother. Lowering her head and staring at her feet, she followed the group unconsciously after the young lady's instructions were completed.

Beside her, Fu Dong held Liu Juan's arm and softly said, "Say goodbye to your brother and don't keep the Eldest Miss waiting."

Surprised, Liu Juan looked up, nodding repeatedly as she bit her lip.
