Chapter 86: Yingshan Pass Affairs

When Hua Zhi came out and didn't see Mr. Lu, she didn't inquire further. She had never considered Mr. Lu as a subordinate of the Hua family. In her private thoughts, she regarded Mr. Lu as external assistance brought in because of Shao Yao.

Since he was an external assistant, she only needed to remember the favor he owed, and there was no need for her to interfere.

"Yan-ge has booked the inn, the one recommended by that person earlier."

The house was inhabited by only men, and even though they were family, it was not very convenient. Staying at the inn was the most suitable option. Hua Zhi nodded and asked Chen Shan, "When is the curfew here?"

"Inform Miss, it is at the hour of You."

That meant five o'clock. With the current weather, it would likely be dark by five. Hua Zhi gave him a silver note, "You should know where the food is delicious. Go and prepare a few good tables."

"Yes, I will go now."

As Hua Yi stepped out of the house, he saw Chen Shan sprint away and chuckled, "He is quite quick. He finally listens to what you say now."

"If he can't even show a bit of understanding, he might as well follow us back to the capital." Hua Zhi turned around, seeing her grandfather wearing her cape, which was too short for him and too long for her, so she exchanged it with him.

Hua Yi was someone who knew the value of things. Just by looking at it, he knew it was a valuable item. Once he actually held it, he understood its worth was priceless. "Do you really not want it back?"

"I bought it from him. It's too cold here without a decent cape."

"Grandfather is not that fragile."

"It is a fact that you are currently not in good health."

Hua Yi chuckled and shook his head, not wanting to argue with her. This granddaughter of his made him feel refreshed. In the past, she was so reticent that it was difficult even to get her to speak a few words. Now, she was like a breath of fresh air, unafraid of being stuck in silence.

As night approached, the members of the Hua family returned one by one. When they saw Hua Zhi, their jaws dropped in amazement, and they were filled with an inexplicable excitement. Even those who were usually a bit shady were now all smiles, eager to see any news about their family reflected on Hua Zhi's face.

Hua Zhi dispensed with formalities and no one cared about etiquette at that moment. All eyes were fixed on her, hoping she would share more news about the family.

Hua Zhi seemed to forget that it would be late and they might not be able to return to the inn. She spoke to each person about the family members they were concerned about and informed everyone that the family's ancestral school had been reopened, and every eligible member of the Hua family had been enrolled.

In the midst of excitement, someone said, "Those teachers have finally repaid all the years they have benefited from the Hua family. They have done right by our family."

Hua Zhu's throat felt dry and bitter as she steered the conversation away by pretending to drink tea. However, the older members of the family who had stood in the capital for many years could see through her evasion tactics.

The room fell into a moment of silence.

Hua Yi asked on behalf of everyone, "What is the current situation with the family clan school?"

When asked, Hua Zhi did not hide anything, "Currently, Mr. Mu and I are the only teachers at the ancestral school."

"Only Mu Qing has come? How can it be? Did you send invitations to everyone?" Hua Pingyu could not hide his anger.
