Chapter 133: Hua Jing spitting blood

As the days grew colder, the teahouses and taverns remained lively. Customers sat around, enjoying a pot of hot wine, a plate of beef, and a serving of peanuts, chatting and laughing with friends, creating a cozy atmosphere.

In the past few days, the topic of conversation among them was Hua Jing, the eldest daughter-in-law of the Song family.

"She went back to her parents' home to send the maidservant from her niece's home to serve her own husband, that's truly outrageous. They were both raised by the Hua family, yet the difference is so vast."

"Why compare her to the Hua family's eldest daughter? You might tarnish the reputation of that young lady."

"Did they say that the Song  family was going to divorce her? Did he actually do it?"

"It's just idle gossip. If he does divorce her, no one will blame the Hua family. They will only say that the Song family is heartless and shameless."

"If he does divorce her, she'll have no choice but to become a nun. The Hua family's eldest granddaughter has already made it clear that Hua Jing is not allowed to step foot into the Hua family's gates ever again."

"That young lady had the audacity to make her kneel outside during the mourning period. She might actually do it."

At the staircase, Song Chenghao's face flushed red. Unsure of what to do, he hesitated at the bottom of the stairs. His classmates behind him subtly stepped back, exchanging glances.

One of them spoke up, "I feel like having another drink, what about you gentlemen?"

"Sounds good, I was thinking the same."

"Just waiting for you to suggest it, I owe you a drink."

The group returned to the upstairs, seemingly forgetting about Song Chenghao as none of them called for him.

Feeling embarrassed and ashamed, Song Chenghao lowered his head and hurriedly ran out, racing towards his home.

The servant boy approached him as usual to lead the horse, but Song Chenghao swatted his hand away with a whip, causing the boy to cry out in pain as half of his face and arm turned red and swollen.

With a cold snort, Song Chenghao tossed the reins aside and charged into the house, heading straight for the backyard.

Inside the room, Hua Jing covered her mouth, coughing violently. Her daughter, Song Ling'er, cried beside her, both looking somewhat disheveled.

As the coughing subsided, Hua Jing looked up. Once a proud and imposing figure, she now appeared to have aged ten years, her face contorted with anger, veins bulging as she spoke, "How dare they?! How dare they call off the engagement?! Where is the honor of the Song family?!"

Song Ling'er wailed loudly.

Song Chenghao entered the room, sneering and cutting words, "Honor? Wasn't it you who tarnished the honor of the Song family and threw it into the gutter? Now you remember the honor of the Song family? Why don't you go pick it up from the gutter?!"

"Chenghao..." Flower Jing looked at her son in disbelief, "I am your mother!"

"It's because you're my mother's sister that the engagement was called off, that I was humiliated, and Father dares not show his face!"

Hua Jing gasped for breath, trembling but still determined, "Anyone has the right to criticize me, except for you and your siblings! Everything I did was for this family, for you and your siblings. I couldn't bear to see you being looked down upon!"
