Chapter 65: Disappointment.

Unexpectedly, there were so many people waiting outside, and Hua Zhi instantly concealed her tiredness.

Zhu Shi hurriedly approached and asked, "Is everything alright?"

"Everything's fine."

"You've worked hard." Zhu Shi patted her slightly cold hand, unexpectedly reminded of when she was fifteen or sixteen years old, at the same age as her daughter, she was full of shyness as a bride-to-be, while her daughter had gradually become the backbone of the Hua family.

Qi Shi and Xia Shi were still unwilling, but looking at everything that had happened, wasn't Zhi'er the one making decisions and taking responsibility for each matter?

Qi Shi and Xia Shi also expressed their gratitude, their eyes shifting towards Shao Yao's face, wondering about the hat she always wore. It seemed her face was damaged. They didn't even know who the young lady had met, and the old lady didn't seem to care. She had even instructed them to treat her well!

Hua Zhi didn't like their looks and stepped forward to shield Shao Yao behind her. Only then did the two women sheepishly withdraw their gaze.

Beside Wu Shi, Song Mama led a group of young and old maidservants forward to bow deeply. Hua Zhi had no strength to exchange pleasantries with them and simply raised her hand, saying, "Tidy up the room nicely and try to get rid of the bloodstains. It's going to be a good day tomorrow, as long as the wind isn't strong, open the doors and windows for a while. Don't be afraid of drafts; it will only be beneficial for Fourth Aunt."

"Yes."

"When Fourth Aunt wakes up, ask her if she wants to send a message to her family. If she does, you can go directly without needing to ask for permission."

"Yes, this servant thanks Miss for her great kindness."

Hua Zhi waved her hand and looked at Chen Mama, "How is Grandmother?"

"The same as this afternoon, sleeping on and off, but not for long before waking up. She knew Fourth Lady was in labor and sent me to wait for news."

"Tell Grandmother that Fourth Aunt is fine."

"Yes."

"Let's go back, Caocao and I will have something to eat, change our clothes, and then go to Grandmother's place."

With a nod from Chen Mama, she immediately left without another word. Even though she knew Eldest Miss was undoubtedly exhausted, when it concerned the old lady, she couldn't show she noticed her fatigue.

Hua Zhi turned to the elders, "Mother, Second Aunt, Third Aunt, you all go back and rest, it's getting late."

Zhu Shi straightened her daughter's clothes, stained with the scent of blood, "You're the most tired. Go back soon, don't worry about me."

"Alright."

She could hold herself together outside, but once inside her own courtyard, Hua Zhi didn't want to move a finger. She had her clothes changed with the help of Ying Chun and Nian Qiu.

Shao Yao, who had looked tired, brightened up at the sight of Fu Dong bringing a table full of food with a few maidservants. She suddenly regained all her energy and tucked in heartily.

Hua Zhi had little appetite and only took a few bites before setting down her chopsticks.

Fu Dong wanted to persuade her to eat more, but Ying Chun subtly shook her head, offering a cup of ginseng tea and encouraging her to drink a few sips before informing her of the things she wanted to know, one by one.
