Summer had sadly come to an end. Sadly as in the last time summer ended, Carmin and Miguel had fell over their respective railings. Junior year had went by in the blink of an eye. Mainly due to all the time the duo spent away from school and due too the karate war that was happening all around them.
A lot happened last year.
I mean from Carmin's family suddenly coming back, to them reconciling, to her and Miguel's fight. Then there was her getting with Robby, officially rejoining Cobra Kai, to leaving for Mexico during the All Valley. Oh, now Robby and Miguel were going to be step brothers, which in itself was crazy but in their perspective it was insane.
But out of all of this, the only good thing to come from it was the people she met along the way.
Hence why Carmin had managed to get up so brightly that morning, everyone was looking forwards to their senior year. Most of the group had a group chat where they talked about all their possible plans, colleges and futures.
And while Carmin still wasn't entirely sure about what she wanted to do anymore, she was comforted by the fact she had people to fall back on.
"Carmin, breakfast is ready!" Mandy Kim shouted from downstairs, Carmin looked herself over in the mirror. Taking her appearance in, she grinned to herself as she stood in a pair of flair blue jeans and a blue baby-t. She grabbed her backpack before heading downstairs, "Thank you."
She brushed past her mom, their relationship still wasn't a whole one. They tried. They talked. They had their moments. But they weren't mother and daughter. They weren't there yet.
They didn't hug, they didn't press kisses to each other's cheek or talk much about their personal feelings. But they cared at least.
"What time is school over?" Mandy questioned, she'd been a little on edge lately which concerned Carmin but not enough for her to break their streak and ask. "Oh, I think around 1:30 since it's a short day."
Mandy hummed, nodding her head, she glanced at her daughter for a moment before clearing her throat. "Well, ugh, if you could come straight home after, I've been needing to talk to you about something."
Carmin hummed as she put more of her waffle in her mouth, "Okay, sounds good.. oh, I might be a little late because I have debate club." Mandy raised an eyebrow at that, "Since when did you start doing debate?"
"Since I quit karate for the 70th time and need something good on my college applications." Mandy hummed in understanding, "Just, we need to talk okay, so don't forget?"
Carmin nodded her head, heading to the pantry she got some snacks for school and pulled up her water bottle. Trying to ignore the fact that her mother was staring at her like she was going to explode.
