Coming back to karate was both a blessing and a curse

Coming back to karate was both a blessing and a curse. Blessing as Carmin was able to reconnect with herself, but a curse as in she remembered what it was like when she first came back to karate. When Kreese was the one who showed her the way.

And maybe that's why she had such a hard time with coming back to karate. Maybe that's why she felt so guilty for doing so. When her fist hit the punching bag that she'd set up outside her home, she remembered Kreese's words about her legs being stronger than her arms.

She remembered Kreese telling her how to use her fists so that she wouldn't hurt herself. How to aim. How to punch and make it hurt. That's probably why Carmin didn't want to do karate again, because Kreese once used that feeling to get into her head. And when she was realizing what it was doing to her, when she spoke up, how he used the same tactic to leach her back in.

Carmin lost a lot of things during that time. She lost Johnny, her favorite white man. She lost Eli and Demetri, her favorite nerds. She lost Aisha in the mess of it all. She lost Chris and Mitch. She lost her beloved friend group, who she thinks back on from time to time. She lost Miguel, her best friend.

But most of all, she lost herself.

Carmin loathed herself for that time of her life, she hated that she allowed someone into her head. She hated how she gave up on herself, made herself do things she didn't want to do.

The only thing she got from that time was Robby, Faith, Meila and Kenny. So maybe the mayhem was worth it, maybe it all had happened for a reason. No one held it against her, that time of her life, no one spoke of it.

No one hated Carmin for it. No one did, except for Carmin, who still hadn't been able to look at herself the same. And maybe she would, maybe she'd be able to forgive herself when the fight was over. So.. Carmin was going to fight.

Carmin walked into the Miyagi-Do, a determined look on her face. Meila and Robby on either side of her, due to Meila's thriving 'friendship' with Anthony, she decided she'd take on karate. Carmin was heavily against this but Meila promised she'd stay close.

Carmin glanced around the outside dojo, she loved the Miyagi-Do Dojo, it was beautiful at any time of day. Especially in the early morning that their practice would take place, the sunlight streaking through the trees. "This place looks better in the sunshine."

Meila noted, Carmin and Robby glanced down at her, "When were you here in the night?" Meila's jaw slacked slightly, "Oh ugh.. Anthony forgot his bag last week so we came back here." Robby glanced over at Anthony who was stretching with Sam on a wooden plank.

"So you and Anthon-." "Oh my god!" Meila groaned before hurrying off, Miguel walked over with his hands in his pockets, "Asked her about her relationship with Anthony, did you? Made the same mistake a few days ago."
