Shell-shocked, Elton and Raven looked into their son's eyes peeping his head out from behind Loona's hips. Balin was also thrilled to see them again, but he was still worried and Loona knew it.
As he looked up at her, she gently rubbed his head. But she then drew her hand away after a couple of seconds, as she still didn't want her feelings to show quite as much.
So with a deep breath, Balin let go of her side and slowly walked up to his mom and dad, who had their watering eyes glued to him in surprise. They could hardly believe what they were seeing.
Until, with heavy eye contact, Balin looked at them and said in a very shaky voice: "Mommy? Dad...?"
"BALIN!!!!" screamed Elton and Raven happily.
The two parents then ran from the doorway and wrapped him up in their arms, spinning around.
"Oh my God, my sweet baby!" cried Raven. "You're here?!" Elton wept harder.
Balin couldn't believe all the affection he was witnessing. They actually still loved him after all that's happened, physically and mentally, like the I.M.P crew said they would.
"You're... You're okay..." he quivered quietly.
"Yes, we're okay. We're okay." the two then knelt down on their knees with the boy still in their arms, and Balin melted into the embrace, also happy to be reunited.
Even if she didn't show a lot in her body language, Loona smiled, finding this reuniting moment so sweet, that her eyes were about to mist up themselves.
As the three smiled in their hug, Balin immediately started weeping in sadness.
"I'M SO SORRY!" he sobbed. The three grown-ups then looked to him with the tears streaming down his sad face.
"I know I missed you guys so much, but...!" he continued crying. "All this time, all I could, think about was how, scared and lonely I was, without you, even when I was safe, I just couldn't, keep my promise!"
"I tried to, remember what you, taught me about, kindness, I wanted to f-fix things, and I... *sniffles* I...!"
"Oh no, no, gosh no, mate." "Awwww, Balin." his parents consoled him. Loona, witnessing this scene, was about to go over the brink of crying as well, but even with her arms crossed, she couldn't hold her pride in much longer as he continued.
"I-I've worked it all out in my head, I-I started having these nightmares, where, where I was the problem after all, and where I'd never, I'd never see you guys again! I'm so sorry if I'm here, please don't hate me! I'm sorry!"
Balin then started weeping even harder, as his mother consoled him by grabbing his shoulders.
"Oh, no, no, NO Balin! Don't you dare be sorry for being here!" she began tearing up as well. "We missed you too."
"You, y-you did?" Balin then looked up at her with his tear-stained face.
"Absolutely little guy." Elton then showed a smile to him. "Everyday, we've been sitting the backyard praying we'd see your manly little face again. And now...!"
"Now, what?" the boy asked them still sniffling.
"You're here!" the two parents said in unison.
"You must've been so brave waiting this long in that foster home for us." Elton smiled, ruffling his head. "It's never easy, yet you must have."
"Yes." Raven added. "Because you must have remembered your kindness after all. No matter how scared you were, you can never forget that."
Balin then smiled a little too, remembering what the I.M.P crew and every other demon he made friends with say. "I... I guess I did." he said, slightly getting better. "I didn't mean to have those nightmares. Or think about any of this."
