Ethan POV

The spring fair is filled with lots of fun activities. There was an archery range, a horse riding competition, harvesting contest. There are countless activities but I focused on the activities I prefer.

I see people around me living their joy and having their best day of their lives.

The idea that a people in this cruel is so happy despite unaware of how dangerous this world can be, motivated me a little. I felt I was being overly paranoid and overcautious.

But the point is I don't want to die young.

Maybe I enjoy this fair a bit. I doubt I can do much if someone targeted me. I was weak so I should run.

"Come on, don't just stand there" Lyra kept dragging me while I was observing the fair.

"Sheesh! What should we do next " I asked her.

"Let's go, let's go....To the archery. I want to shoot " She jumped while raising her hands in joy.

"I don't how to use it " I raised both of hands in a y shape and responded.
"Hehe... It's easy, I will teach you how. You don't have to do much " She said while bringing me to the archery range.

"2 silver coins, each round for one of us " Lyra asked the man on the stand.

"Oh! it's you again. Well you know the rules
Hit the 5 bottles, you will get 5 arrows. You get
A Water chocolate for hitting 3 bottles
A teddy bear for hitting 4 bottles.
A cap for hitting 5 bottles" He said while pointing at the several units of three prizes.

"The bottles are moving now, why? " Lyra asked the shopkeeper.

It seemed like the bottles are stationary in archery range last fair. The problems is that the bottles are moving fast

"You know why little she-devil. No way I am letting you win prize this time " The man said with full confidence in himself.

This game is aimed for children clearly. The prizes are nothing noteworthy but I am interested in wielding a bow. The game is also unfair to the intended audience.

Lyra paid the man at the stand, Archery was new to me. In fact, I had never even held a bow before

"Here you go, Woody," Lyra said, handing me a bow and a quiver of arrows. "Now, just follow my lead."
She positioned herself in front of a target,

Her legs are steady and has space between, She drew an arrow from the quiver and nocked it onto the bowstring. It felt she has been doing it for quite a lot

"First, you need to find your anchor point," she explained, pointing to her chin. "That's where you'll pull the string back to."

I nodded, trying to mimic her movements.

But the bow felt awkward in my hands, the string too tight.

How did she made it so easy.
Lyra noticed my struggles. "Here, let me help you," she offered, coming closer. She smelt nice like a jasmine flower, her hands are delicate.

She gently adjusted my grip on the bow and helped me position the arrow. "Now, remember to keep your elbow up and your back straight."

I took a deep breath and pulled back the string, my muscles straining.

"Relax," Lyra encouraged. "You're too tense. Just focus on the target."

I closed one eye, trying to aim. But the world seemed to tilt, and the target blurred in my vision.

Lyra burst out laughing. "Haha, you are way too tense and anxious " she said, patting me on the back.

"Sorry, couldn't help myself. Don't worry it's your first time. Just keep practicing, and you'll get the hang of it."

I managed a weak smile. "I hope so,"

This wasn't that big of surprise. I should build right pressure handling capabilities. I have 4 shots remaining

"Don't overthink it," Lyra advised, sensing my frustration. "It's just a game. Have fun with it!"
I took another arrow, nocking it onto the string. This time, I focused on my breathing, letting go of the tension.

There was nothing to fear. All I need clear reflexes and calm mind.

Concentrate more about how I improve my bow skill rather than winning here.

I can develop more if I lose here. Winning is important but improving what I lack is what should be is what I should focus.
So calm yourself, carter. Calm and go with the intent to get what you want the most out of your life.

As I drew back the string, the world seemed to slow down. The fast moving bottles slowed down a bit. I focused more on them and they move negligibly fast. Not complete halt but we can neglect the speed.

What is this skill. Is it mine? Or every archer who followed the correct posture can use it? Or only people with my bloodline Can?

No No. Focus. Remove your thoughts. Aim for the target.
Destroy it!

With a calm exhale, I released the arrow. It flew straight and true, shattering the first bottle.

"Nice Woody"

I picked up the next arrow And then the second

"How"

I am completely immersed in shooting, and then the third arrow and shot the next

And my hand automatically reached the next arrow. I feel happy, the pleasure of winning

Since when I am this good? Am I actually wasting my talent by staying inside the castle? I learned more with Lyra than with my mother.

And before I could think about it, the next bottle is shattered. My hand reached for the next arrow, where is the next arrow.

I want to Destroy! Wait

I realize I had missed an arrow earlier. Tough luck.

Hence my streak ended. I loved hearing those bottles being shattered.
Lyra, sensing my disappointment, stepped up to the line. "My turn," she declared, her eyes sparkling with competitive fire.

She picked up a bow, her movements quick and efficient. In a matter of seconds, she had fired all five arrows, each one hitting its mark with pinpoint accuracy.

The crowd erupted in cheers, but Lyra simply shrugged, a playful smirk on her face. "Easy peasy," she said, handing the shopkeeper back the bow.
"What happened " The shop keeper stared the broken bottles.

"Congrats. Good for you! " I said after realizing that she broke the bottles in the same time I have taken for the second arrow.

"Have you used homing arrow magic. How do you do that. I am slow, my reflexes seem weak " I said

"Don't be down kid. That girl is a she demo- " the shopkeeper tried to say, but lyna stomped on her feet

"Aagh"

" Hmph. Come on woody " Lyra said while leaving with an adventure book and teddy bear from him.

Hey isn't that teddy bear my reward.
