Ethan POV
Seven years have passed since I have discovered my magical abilities. I is now thirteen years old, and I have been improving magical overtime. It has been hectic work, but most important part I am having fun while learning magic my way.
I wouldn't had much luck in learning magic, if I have treated it as a chore. For a bookworm like me, learning about materials and hectic students were mere nothing. Although I wouldn't say I like rote memorization like school.
I like doing things and feeling like I have achieved that why I took writing since I couldn't most scientific work despite reading a lot of basic science stuff.
A good science student doesn't make a good scientist, and a good magic student will not a good mage. So I started practicing spells.
Conjuration is the most painful magic since I have to remember a lot of stuff. But remembering them becomes a lot easier after I have practiced well. It becomes build up in my brain.
And the best part is that Since I have started early I would be more efficient in creating and utilizing. So thank you past me for persisting in developing magic at early age despite the risks, and also for making bold decisions. Continue the good work.
Good! . I stood in the center of the training room. I closed my eyes and focused my mind on the shape. I imagined a sleek, curved blade, its edge s with a razor-sharp keenness. I could feel the cool water in the air responding to my will, swirling and changing into the shape I desired.
The fact that water molecules in the air can turn into big sword, humidity is great supportive element for water magic. As you can see I have used little to negligent mana for this skill. Since I have relied on humidity alone much than magical energy.
I call this spell [waterform] since water is formed to create it.
In the early days I have to use my mana to create weapons but now.
I used humidity as source, rather using my own mana to create magical energy. Conjuration is creating objects using mana after all.
Now the biggest point is I need a strong transmutator to further compress the water molecules and make it durable and strong.
To be fair transumutation is a synonym for weaver. I have heard that it is a old word that is changed into transmutation since it didn't suit it well. It is a long story with transmutation mistaken for weaving clothes.
Or Augmentator to strength in or coat with other possible elements.
This is why I loved practicing magic, It so fun, with how you can use creativity to do so much things with multiple spells and using ideas. This is why I probably loved writing too.
Creating is more fun than following text book methods, even though they are tested and more relied. But creation requires learning of textbook knowledge.
Water element and conjuration is not direct flashy attacking power and and it is a bit defensive in nature magic. So i had my problems adjusting with it to my tastes.
Coming to the dark magic, I have create plenty of them, my spell, Shadow cloak allow me to create a cloak around me to avoid single hit. It is very helpful for avoiding a powerful attack. Conjuration is best suited for defense unless you go creative with it.
Speaking about it, my home the Blackwood manor is a castle filled lots of ponds, beautiful waterfalls with lot of fishes; Sunlight filters through the crystal-clear water, with patterns on the floors and walls, the scenery was sight for eyes. It is like an aquarium with lots of marine life, I think this is like a dream castle for marine engineers or sailors.
I live in the wavecrest region. Wavecrest is a unique region within Aquaria continent, known for its calm atmosphere, beautiful landscapes. It is a coastal region with rich farming life.
Aquaria continent consists of Coralynn, an underwater city and tidewater set of islands along with wavecrest as regions.
Wavecrest is currently ruled by King Nereus, a descendant of house Triton which is also, one of the four founding families of Aquaria. The other three families – Blackwood, Triton, and Oceana and coral – each hold significant power and has influence within the kingdom. The region is full of rules which and punishments when it comes to Nobel's plight.
It is a big plus since our town has become more secure and accidents like that fire elemental happen irregularly. And ever since then we have increased our security.
Enough, I have been overthinking too much, it's time for watermelon, I went up picking up a watermelon from the aquafarm I harvested and cut it in half, using [waterform] spell and cutting it with a knife.
I sat in the shade of a giant tree, enjoying a juicy slice of watermelon. The sweet, cool flesh is good. I savored each bite, the juice dripping down his chin, a contented smile on his. It's a huge pleasure when you eat the food you produce. Tasty. And then I had this brilliant idea. why don't I go around the world and pick up brilliant servants and acquaintances which help my life easier. I should start kingdom building by gathering powerful people of the continent under my rule, and make Blackwood family strongest. Of course, they should be working for me while I enjoy lavish life. I feel like a young nobleman."Ethan, my darling," she said, her voice soft as silk. "How are you enjoying your watermelon?"
Suddenly, a shadow fell over me. I looked up to see my mother, Queen Lucia, standing before me, her expression is a mix of affection and concern.
"It's delicious, Mother. Eating what I harvest is tasty!" I replied while eating.
Lucia chuckled and sat down beside me. She reached out and gently wiped a stray drop of juice from his chin. "I'm glad you're enjoying it, my dear. But I must speak to you about something important."
"Ethan, we need to discuss your future."
My heart skipped a beat. Whenever I heard that word, it usually meant a lecture was coming
Oh god! Don't set me to marriage with those 'ohohoho' Nobel ladies.
The only part that is good about them is that they are rich and easy to get power when I am a common man.
"As you know, you'll soon be thirteen," she continued, "and it's time to consider your path as a mage. You have two options: enroll in the Royal Academy of Magic, like your noble peers, or take the Mage's License Exam to prove your competency and practice independently."
HELL NO! I don't want to go to school AGAIN. I don't want to deal with regulations and norms where standing up for yourself is the biggest crime.
"I take the Mage's License Exam " I replied without hesitation.
"But, You would learn from the most respected mages in Aquaria and have access to the finest resources and facilities. It might be demanding but not everyone has this opportunity, honey." My mother replied unsure whether it might be right for me
Like Hell! It's a hierarchy system which itself doesn't make sense. I feel like I will end up destroying the whole building. So for my own sanity and well-being, I prefer choosing the exam to preserve my brain cells." I replied bluntly
"No need of the school mom. I choose the exam, I don't want to stay far from you. I can stay with you and learn even stronger magic " I replied giving the most acceptable answer my mom would take.
I don't know why my mother even agreed for me to send to school. What happened to the overprotective behavior you have Mom.
The only thing good about school is that nobel connections I would have, but I will meet more practical people through traveling and raising my military. It's my own personal preference, I won't go to school.
I rather use my knowledge to build a kingdom. I am more of an introvert. How often a bookworm like me will prefer a brutish method rather than a diplomatic and safe decision like going to school?
I rather face the cruel world and explore and have fun than restrain myself to a single place, that is what I want.
