(This is very short but I wanted to put smth here as a filler while I'm writing the actual fix it fit lol)

A'kona opened the door for her as she left the council hall. In the main room, she spotted a woman sitting on a bench and waiting for her. Her long honey blonde hair was pulled up into its' usual braid and her freckled face looked tired.

Elise's eyes lit up as she handed her coat to her husband and embraced the woman tightly. "Vasia! It's been so long, I wasn't expecting to see you here," she beamed, grabbing her shoulders and taking a good look at her.

Avasia gave a tired smile, "I also wasn't expecting to find myself here, to be honest. Glinda told me I could find you here─" she glanced at the hall where she came from. "But failed to inform me you were in a meeting. I hope I didn't intrude on anything."

"Nonsense! Nothing's too important for a friend." she linked arms with her as they made their way down the steps. Avasia gave a sheepish smile. "How are you, Elise?"

"Oh, it's been so boring without someone to stir trouble with. Just paperwork and meetings as of late." she waved her hand, "I haven't even seen Glinda in days, how's your research going?"

"It's─ going. We found what we think is a possible location of the source."

"You're kidding, you've only been there for a year, right?" Elise's eyes widened, and Avasia nodded, filled with a sense of pride. "I think we've really made a breakthrough. All that's left is to harvest and stabilize it." she gave a small laugh, "it's hard to believe this is actually happening. If this works, then... well, we've already got plans."

Elise gently squeezed her hand. "I'm so proud of you, Vasia. I know you're gonna do amazing things." she smiled, then perked up. "Oh! You should come over for dinner tonight. To celebrate," she gently shook her excitedly. "You should bring your brother as well."

"Ah... about that," Avasia looked to the side, "I'm actually here by myself. My brother is in Vel Mere with Drecata... she's pregnant with twins."

Elise gasped, then looked to her husband. "Did you hear that, A'kona? Twins!"

"I did," he replied with a smile. "At the same time as our baby, might I add." he chuckled, and if Elise wasn't pregnant herself she would've been jumping for joy. "This is so exciting. You'll have to get them to visit sometime, after they've had their babies of course. I know they must have their hands full with two other toddlers."

Avasia returned a weary smile. She knew her brother and his wife had never quite taken a liking to Elise, but it was the polite thing to say, regardless.

They made their way outside, and a land speeder was waiting at the curb. "If your brother can't make it, how about you bring your partner? I'd still like to have you over later."

"Zita?" Avasia's blinked, her face reddening. "I don't know, we've only been seeing each other for a few weeks─"

"What? I thought you two had been together for ages," Elise interrupted, looking puzzled.

"Oh, no. Well, technically yes, we were, but only strictly as colleagues. It's not─"

"It's settled, then." Elise took her coat from A'kona and he helped her put it on. "Invite Zita, she should also be able to take a break."

Avasia sighed as she watched her step into the land speeder. There was no arguing with Elise when she'd made up her mind. "I'll ask her, but I can't make any promises."

"You better, Vasia," Elise grinned, and the door closed. Avasia watched as they sped off, and she sighed deeply.

Avasia went up the steps and pressed the buttons on the keypad to open the door. She had been looking forward to going home, but it wasn't the end of the world. All that time away wasn't for nothing. She could finally make a difference once she'd stabilized the magic.

She was met with the sweet smell of food as she stepped inside, and she took a look at the mouthwatering dish that was sitting on the counter.

"Hey," a voice came from the other room, and Avasia hung up her coat and bag. "Is that you, Zita?" she looked around, finding a bunch of equipment on the coffee table and the door to the bedroom open.

"In the bedroom," her partner called, and Avasia headed into the room, finding Zita sitting at the desk and tinkering with some device. Her hair was done up in a messy ponytail and she had on an undershirt and her work pants. "How was your day?"

"Tiring," she sighed, leaning against the wall and crossing her arms. Zita looked up at her with a small smile, her brown eyes glinting. "How about yours? Have you eaten?"

"No, I was waiting for you." she put her tools down and got up from the desk, walking over and putting her hands on Avasia's hips. "You met with your governor friend?"

Avasia leaned forward and pressed their foreheads together, letting out a small hum. "Yeah, she wants you to come to dinner tonight. To celebrate," she mumbled, running her hands up her partner's shirt for warmth. Zita's hands trailed down her waist, stopping at her rear. "What'd you tell her?"

"That I'd have to ask my girlfriend," she chuckled, reaching up and capturing her lips in a kiss. Zita smiled against her skin.

"Oh, is that who I am?"

"You could be," Avasia said between kisses, and Zita pulled her close, giving a squeeze. She pulled away for a moment, her smile fading a bit. "Babe, you know how I feel about that kind of stuff..."

"I know, but I told her I'd ask." Avasia cupped the side of her cheek. "Elise is different, you know that. She's not like the rest of those politicians."

Zita pursed her lips, thinking for a moment, then nodded slightly. "As long as you're sure."

"Of course I'm sure," Avasia said softly, leaning back in to continue kissing her. "She's my best friend."

Zita gave a small nod, "if you want me there, I'll be there." she kissed her again, pulling her close and rubbing her hands up and down her back. "Are you cold?"

"Freezing."

Zita laughed and pulled away, tugging her along. "Let's get you warm clothes and a blanket, then."
