Chapter 9: Solace

"You smell nice, Elio."

Ramdam ko ang mainit na hininga ni Nico sa leeg ko. I kept pushing him, but even he was drunk, his grip was still strong, making it impossible for me to escape. Nagpupumiglas ako pero parang lalo pang humihigpit ang hawak niya sa mga kamay ko. Nakakaramdam na ako ng kaba, lalo na nang maramdaman ko ang kamay niya na dahan-dahang pumapasok sa loob ng damit ko. 

My tears began to well up in my eyes.

"P-please stop..." paos kong pakiusap, pilit pinipigilan ang mga luhang nagbabadyang bumagsak.

His touch unlocked something deep in my memory, a painful fragment I thought I had buried long ago. I had promised myself I wouldn't cry over that nightmare again, but it's as if the pain was just waiting for the right moment to resurface. The cries I thought I had forgotten were now pouring back, raw and vivid, reminding me of the wounds I thought had healed.

I shut my eyes tightly when I felt his hands exploring my body, his face dangerously close to mine. I turned my head away, biting my lips to keep him from kissing me. He was now kissing my neck up to my jaw, and I could feel his breath brushing against my skin. With every breath he took, the memories flooded back, and the tears I had been holding back finally started to fall.

Fuck, can someone help me, please? Just this once?

After what felt like an eternity, may narinig akong mga yapak papalapit. Walang kaabog-abog, bigla na lang akong nakawala sa pagkakahawak ni Nico. Napaupo ako sa sahig habang si Nico naman ay bumagsak sa harap ko. Sobrang bilis ng pangyayari, halos hindi ko maintindihan kung ano ang nangyari.

"A-aray, tangina!" daing ni Nico habang hawak ang dumudugong gilid ng labi niya.

"Dikitan mo pa, para hindi lang labi mo pumutok," maangas na sabi ng isang pamilyar na boses. Lumingon ako, at doon ko nakita si Maki. 

His eyes were burning with fury as he glared at Nico, hist fists clenched tightly. The rage in his eyes was palpable. I could see how his teeth were gritting and his whole body trembling with anger.

My tears finally burst out as I realized I was safe. I should have listened to him in the first place.

Sumugod ulit si Maki kay Nico, akmang susuntukin pa sana niya ulit, but he stopped when he heard me.

"S-stop..." sabi ko sa gitna ng pag-iyak.

He turned to look at me, and his eyes softened the moment they met mine. He immediately stood up and rushed over to me, cupping my face in his hands. I was still sniffing and crying, and I could see the worry etched on his face. He gently wiped away the tears streaming down my cheeks with his thumb.

"Shh, I'm here now. You're safe, Elione," mahina at malambing niyang sabi habang inaakay ako papunta sa dibdib niya.

I cried even harder. Nararamdaman ko rin ang dahan-dahang paghagod ni Maki sa likod ng ulo ko. Sa bawat hagod niya ay para bang sinasabi niya sa akin na nandito siya, na ligtas na ako.

I was terrified by how Nico had acted. I know he was drunk, but that didn't give him the right to do that to me. I was scared that it would become another nightmare I couldn't escape from. I thought I had moved on from that past, but this incident just made me realize how much it still hurt.

Ilang sandali pa, tinulungan ako ni Maki na makatayo. Pero bago kami umalis, sinipa pa niya ulit si Nico, dahilan para mapaungol ito sa sakit. I glanced at Maki, who just gave me an innocent look.
