Chapter thirty nine

Hearing the sound of the door, Asher turned sharply, surprised to see her gone. Without thinking, he teleported and appeared right in front of her, deriving a shocked gasp from her. "Where do you think you are going?"

"Don't do that," she said, placing a hand on her scared chest. "You almost gave me a heart attack."

Asher ignored her words and repeated, "where are you going?"

"I'm going home."

"By this time? Do you have any idea what I just saved you from? How sure are you that they won't be more? Your only safe place now is with me, Naomi," Asher said, slightly annoyed at her way of reasoning.

"How can I be here when it's obvious that you don't even want me here?" She yelled.

"What the hell do you mean?"

"You know what I mean," she accused, her eyes blurring over with fresh tears. "You are acting strange, not that it's really strange since I know where it is leading."

"Like, you have lost me, Naomi, can you please speak in a way that I can understand?"

"It's obvious, okay? I have seen it twice in my dreams and your action is already proving it. If I stay here even for a little more time then you will say it to me."

"Say what?"

"That I am not your type!" she yelled at him, the tears rolling down her cheeks. "That I am not beautiful for you, that I can never have you or have anything to do with you. That I am just a weak human who has a weird and sick ability to see future which you hate and that I should never dream of having anything to do with you because you are never going to reject your mate for me neither would you choose me over her. That you deserve someone beautiful and strong to complement you and..."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on a minute," Asher interrupted, grabbing onto her shoulders to still her, "where are you getting all these things from?"

"You said it to me," she sobbed.

"When, where?"

"In my dream. Twice," she sobbed and looked up at him. His eyes had gone down to his beautiful midnight blue and she could see the shock and amusement in them. "Everything that happened tonight I had seen in my dream more than once. And then when we got here, you were acting distant, even your voice sounded distant and then you wouldn't even explain to me what you mean by being different when you always tell me everything and makes sure that I understand. I knew instantly that my dream about you was coming to pass and I just can't stay and hear you say it when I know how broken I always am when you say it to me in dreams. I don't want to witness it in real life," she sniffled, the tears rolling down her cheeks.

In as much as Asher was amused earlier but seeing how affected she was, he knew she was being serious. He sighed and licked his lips, "what makes you think I am going to say that? Why would you even have such dream about me. Have I ever given you any sign that I don't like you?"

She looked deep into his eyes and nodded. "The last time I saw you," she sniffled and explained further. "You almost kissed me, but then you didn't. And to top it all, you disappeared for two whole weeks. Why Asher, why didn't you kiss me? Is it because I am not beautiful? I'm not to your taste, right?"

Asher chuckled softly and licked his lips. He didn't look away from her for a second and just pulled her closer to him. He softly caressed her cheek, tucking strands of hair behind her ear. "I didn't show up for two weeks because I have been in lockdown. After I left here, my powers flared up, it something I knew would happen anytime soon and I actually felt it happening when we were still in the kitchen. I was scared because I know if it happens with you around, no matter how much I don't want to hurt you, I wouldn't be able to control myself. So I went home, where my family, the only ones who understands what it was like could help me. I just recovered today, Noami, and I had woken up to almost hurting my father and then I had sensed you in trouble and had come rushing here."
