"He has always hated me, no matter what I did, no matter how much I try, I can never get him to love me. Even to give me a single praise has always been hard for him. Only the other day has he ever praised me, telling me that my cooking is now almost as great as that of my mother. That was the only day he ever told me about her, the only day he ever mentioned her and that was because he wanted to tell me to stay away from Justin because Justin's father is about to work with Stacy's father and her father was the one that bought the shop he had rented for mom's restaurant. I have always known that he hated me because my mother died giving birth to me. Aunt Gaia has always told me how loving a man he used to be, so I am not surprised. But hearing that he has always been thinking and wishing he had gotten rid of me, that was the last straw, Asher, am I really that hateful?" Naomi sobbed and Asher held her in his arms, "am I really that hateful?"

Asher said nothing and just held her close, he doesn't need to tell her not to cry, it's not possible. No child would hear that from their parent and not feel bad, so it's good that she cried, it would help her heal faster.

"I know I am not as beautiful as my mom, and I can never be her, but is it really my fault? I didn't ask to be born; I didn't kill her myself. Why does he have to treat me so? Why does he have to punish me? I was just a baby, what did I know? What did I know?" she cried.

Asher heaved a deep sigh and closed his eyes, her words were affecting him but he really doesn't know what to say. In as much it would be nice if she cried it out, it doesn't mean he loves seeing her cry. He held her and she cried so badly in his arms. After a long time, her cries went down to tiny sobs and it was only then that he brought up her face and smiled when she looked at him, "he is the one that is missing. You are lovable, kind, and caring. Naomi, you tried to stop your bullies from going on a joyride that would kill them. And if it wasn't because humans are so dumb, they would have realized you are a treasure when you showed sign of your visions. Do you know how pure blood witches are valued in my world? Any strong man would be stronger if they have one by their side. That is why my dad can never let go of my aunt. You are special Naomi, and your mother knows it, just like your aunt. And because your dad is a dumb human, he didn't see it. Just like the rest of them."

Naomi sniffled listening to his words. His words of encouragement brought fresh tears to her eyes.

"You only feel like this because you are not where you are meant to be, the humans are below you, that is why they couldn't see your worth. When you start developing your powers, when you master your spells, you will see how the strong demon rulers would come for you. In my world, you are a gem. Every pure blood witch is a gem. So stop crying because a dumb human would rather dwell in the past rather than make good memories with you. You have me now, and I am sure as hell happy to have this gem as my mate," he smiled and wiped away her tears with his thumb. "You are beautiful Naomi, inside and out, and I was dumb to not have seen that before. Although my wolf did, I guess? I really don't know the part of me that was attracted to you on the first sight." He chuckled, making her giggle.

"The most important thing is," he continued, "you now know who you are and you will soon be reunited with your kind of people. When the blood moon rises and I mark you again as my mate in front of everyone, you don't have to come back to this shithole and you will witness firsthand how pure bloods are cherished. So calm down, it's only four days to go."

Naomi smiled and hugged him tightly, "thank you, Asher."

"No," he smiled, "thank you for coming into my life." He placed his finger under chin and lifted her face before placing a soft kiss on her lips. He looked deep into her hazel eyes and say, "you want to go for a run?"

Naomi giggled, "sure."

Asher let go of her and took a step back before bowing, "what mode of transportation would you want my Lady in court?"

Naomi laughed at that. "What do you mean?"

"Do you want to run on trees, ride a wolf or teleport?"

Naomi laughed so loud before saying, "Wow, I never knew only me could have such luxurious modes of transportation."

"And it comes with the whole package," Asher winked, making her blush.

"How about a run on the trees?"

"Mm, vampire mode, coming up," he grinned as his eyes flickered red before he suddenly picked her up at breakneck speed. Naomi had to fight to keep her eyes open and soon, she felt like she was flying and only to see that they were hopping on the tree tops. The sun was setting, giving the sky a golden hue. Naomi shivered at the breeze derived from the speed they were going.

Eventually, Asher stopped on top of a tree, holding her so close to him that she could feel his heartbeat. She gulped and looked up at him, to see him gazing lovingly at her and it made her heart flutter. Asher has never looked at her like that before. She turned around, trusting in him to catch her should she fall and she couldn't believe her view. She was looking right at a beautiful meadow. The animals were walking around, trying to settle for the night. The deer were hopping around and with one clear look, she could see the leader stag carefully watching from under a tree. Trying to make sure that his people were safe. She has never been so deep in the forest before and the view was mesmerizing. "Where are we?"

"The deep of the Eastwood. I had encountered this meadow at one point while tracking the pack-less wolves. I have always felt like their pack would be somewhere here but I have never really found it. But the view is beautiful none the less. It's hard to find this kind of view in the Westwood. You know, with the vampires dwelling there, the animals weren't safe so I guess majority of them migrated here. And for the fact one would pass through the human realm to get to these woods, no vampire has ever tried coming here. Why search for animal blood, when you can get the real deal." He glanced at her.

Naomi shivered and gulped at his words, she perfectly understood what he meant and in as much as it scared her, she tried not to show it. "How can vampires exist and there is no case of missing people. I mean, shouldn't the family members of the person search for them?"

Asher smiled at her words. "That is true, but one of the rules of the vampires, before you kill someone, find out their family and either compel them to believe the person had traveled or kill them all. If there are missing cases all the time, the humans will know there is a force at play and would put mind in it. The vampires are more interested in making sure their existence is not discovered. And the ones you guys watch in movies or read in books were the knowledge passed down from generations. Two thousand years ago, the vampires, werewolves and humans resided together but they were so different and the humans found out, so in other to protect their kinds, the vampires and werewolves moved far deep into the woods. Though at that time, vampires and werewolves were sworn enemies. They only came together with the joining of my parents. Like you know, my dad is a vampire and my mom a werewolf, their bond brought the werewolf and vampire race together. And my father being the demon king now, well, let's just say that the demons doesn't have a choice anymore than to socialize with them."

"What about witches?" Naomi asked.

"Witches are always known to serve the demons so it was nothing much there," he shrugged.

Naomi nodded and glancing at the setting sun, asked, "tell me something Asher, in our movies or stories, we were always made to believe that the sun kills vampires. I mean I know the sun is setting now and it would be nighttime very soon but the times you were in school, I have seen you walk under a scorching sun a lot of times."

"I am a second-generation vampire after all. Although I should be afraid of a really hot afternoon as the vampire leaders really can't step out under a really a hot sun, but I am not just a vampire now, am I?"

"Vampire leaders? What about your father?"

"He is a vampire original, the sun does absolutely nothing to him. As for me, let's say my demon and werewolf parts gave me the ability to walk under any type of sun, unlike the council chiefs."

Naomi nodded in an understanding; it made perfect sense. "Let me guess, we came this evening because of your Uncle Rasmus, right?"

"Yes. As a third-generation, he can walk under the evening sun, but the rest of the generations that comes after him can only walk out when the sky is dark. The wolf hunters are probably the ones that found out the sun kills vampires because when vampires lived with humans, it was the originals and they blended in very well."

"Wolf hunters?"

"Yes, like your dad."
