“Asher,” Naomi smiled seeing the boy climbing into her room from the window. He looked up at her but his eyes weren’t all smile as usual. “What happened?” she asked, going to him, “why didn’t you show up in school for the past two weeks. Is everything okay?” she wondered, now standing in front of him and she reached up to cup his cheek in her palm. However, he did something unimaginable to her, he avoided her touch. “Hey, it’s me.”

Asher backed away from her and when he looked at her once more, his eyes were black, “I don’t ever want to see you again.”

“What?” Naomi was shocked and she could feel the tears blurring her vision immediately and threatening to fall. “Wh-why, what did I do?”

“Nothing, you are just not my type. You are not beautiful enough for me and I would never choose you over my mate.”

“B-but I’m not asking you to choose me over her,” she said, the tears now trailing down her cheeks from his former words. “Asher.”

“You are hoping it, you are wishing it. I can see it in your eyes. You are not my type Naomi, you are a weak human that has this sick and weird ability of seeing future and it pisses me off as shit. Don’t ever think about me or wish to have me, I can never be yours. I am to be with a she-wolf who would be strong and match my strength and not some weak ugly human like you. Do you understand me? I came here to personally tell you that. So forget it, okay, forget ever being with me.”

“Asher,” she cried but he turned to jump out of the window. “No, Asher, Asher!” she screamed as he jumped and she woke up to see that she was sitting in her bed, in her room. Her face feels moist and she reached up to feel her cheeks to feel water, it turned out that she had cried out her tears from her dream. This was the second time she was having that kind of dream about Asher and it honestly doesn’t make her feel any good.

She pushed down the covers and climbed out of the bed. She walked straight to the window, the moon was full and bright and she imagined the really big silver fur wolf sitting on top of a hill and howling the night away. She sniffled and fresh tears rolled down her cheeks. She found herself imagining a really beautiful wolf beside him, howling alongside him and even though the picture was beautiful, it only broke her heart more. She turned away from the window and went to her wardrobe, grabbing a jean and a hoodie. She quickly changed into the attire and put on a flipflop before gently leaving her room.

As she passed by her father’s door, she could hear the light snores that was coming out of it and she tiptoed to the front door and as quietly as she could, she sneaked out of it. The cool night air made her shiver and she closed her eyes and heaved a deep sigh before beginning her walk. She contemplated going into the woods but decided against it as she strolled down the quiet street. She hasn’t walked for ten minutes when she felt it. Someone or rather, something was following her. She turned around but there was nothing, the moon shone as brightly and the night was quiet. For a brief logical second, Naomi wondered what she was doing outside in the first place. She sucked in a deep breath and turned around, continuing with her walk but she just can’t shake off the feeling that someone was tailing her. For a second she wondered if it was Asher but she knows how Asher’s presence feels like. No matter how stealthily he follows her or in what form, she always know that he wouldn’t hurt her but it was different now. Whatever it was that was following her, she could feel that it wasn’t something good and now she wonders if it would be safe to go back the way she came.

She thought of going to Tiana’s place but it was the middle of night, there was no way she would expect her family to still be awake and it would be strange if she goes knocking on her door by this time. She stopped, feeling the strange presence stronger than ever before. She closed her eyes, her heart beating a thousand time per minute before she forced herself to turn around and she should say that she wasn’t shocked when she saw what was following her. She had dreamt about it so much that it almost felt like one of her dreams.

Two ghouls were staring back at her in their shadowy like stature and for a brief moment, she wondered if it was Rebecca and Trisha. But it can’t be them, she warned them about their deaths but they insisted on going, so it was a different case with Jeremy. “What do you want from me?” she asked, her voice was soft but surprisingly, it wasn’t trembling like her heart.

The creatures stared back at her, no answer, no word.

“I want to go home and you are blocking my path.”

Once again, silence.

“Please, I don’t know what you want from me or what I can possibly do for you. So please, can you let me go?”

The creatures responded by taking a step towards her. Naomi stiffened, her eyes not leaving them as they took another step and another and with each step closer to her they took, she kept hearing it at the back of her mind that she should run. And so, when they were close and reached out their smokey shadowy hand to grab her, she turned and fled.

As she ran, she could feel that they were pursuing her and the adrenaline was building up as she ran as fast as her legs could carry her. For some reason, she found herself running to the school and the closer she got to it, she saw them, lining up across the street: Wolves.

She screeched to a stop immediately, is her dream suddenly becoming a reality?

One of the wolves was big and black but not as big as Asher’s silver wolf. she gulped, wondering why there was suddenly ten wolves in the middle of the street. She glanced behind her, knowing fully well that she can’t go back the way she came and neither can she continue forward. She is not a match to one wolf, talk more of ten. Her heart was beating really loud in her chest now and she was panting heavily. It was almost like she had reached her end, that this was the end for her.

The big black wolf step forward, the blue eyes appeared gentle but she somehow read from the wolf’s face that it would be taking her. But taking her to where?

She turned sharply, hoping to meet a cut into another route before she meets the ghouls again but luck was not on her side because as soon as she turned, she saw them, walking up to her in ever slow movement like they owned the world. She turned to the wolves and she saw the shock in the black one’s eyes at the new guests, like it wasn’t expecting to see them.

Naomi could feel it in her bones that she was done for tonight, that it was the end for her but no matter what, she won’t be going down without a fight and she dashed at her right, with no idea of where she was running to but she knew one thing for a fact, the wolves and the ghouls were after her, and she was trying to get away from them, just like in her dreams.

She didn’t go far when she tripped on a stone and flew face down on the hard ground, scratching her wrists and elbow and the side of her stomach. It hurts but she had a bigger problem than just a few bruises. She tried to get up but her ankle hurt a lot. Turns out she had twisted it before she fell. Despite the pains, she knew it was not time to play Cinderella and forced herself up, limping away as fast as could but then, the black wolf seemed to have flown and landed right in front of her. She screamed and turned to run the other way but the wolves had circled her, leaving her in the inner circle. “Please,” she cried, “please let me go, I haven’t done anything.”

She saw the sad look in the black one’s eyes but it turned around and one of the wolves nudged it’s snot on her leg and she fell forward, landing on the back of one grey one. She tried to get up but she couldn’t and watched as the ghouls stood and do nothing while the wolves carried her away. She was sobbing, thinking of what would become her fate now when suddenly, the black wolf in front stopped and she looked up to see Asher blocking it’s path and boy did he look angry with his black eyes.
