0012. | AN OLYMPIC VISIT
FOR SUCH A FRIGHTENED PIGOctavia thought the resort was the nicest place she had ever been.
Well, second nicest. She had to been to Olympus, of course.
The place was amazing. There were terracotta tiled roofs and painted white buildings that shimmered like pearls. Each building had a balcony framed with vibrant green plants and colourful tiles like mosaics on the ground. The paths were warm stoned and white grouted, winding between the buildings and arcing around the fountains that spouted crystal clear waters. There were even some swimming pools being used by a group of young women, giggling and splashing water at each other. Octavia could have sworn one of them looked like a nymph.
She turned back to the path and saw Percy looking at his feet, pale in the face. She frowned. He clearly wasn't enjoying it as much as she was. "What's wrong?"
He opened his mouth, then shut it, then opened it again. "Tyson..." He said. "He liked horses."
She looked at the fountain he had been watching and saw the water spraying in the shape of a sprinting stallion.
She looked back at him with sympathy but he was frowning. "Doesn't matter." He grumbled and stuffed his hands in his pockets.
She knew he was lying but she let him be.
They passed a menagerie of tamed animals. A sea turtle was asleep in a pile of beach towels. A leopard was stretching over the diving board. A lioness was having her claws painted pink by a young woman.
There were only a few resort guests, all girls hanging around the pools and animals. They were all smiling, looking happy with each other, and they were all strangely gorgeous.
Now that she thought it, she really saw it. Every single one of them had their hair done in some fancy way, wearing colourful dresses and layered jewellery. They looked as stunning as the women who lived in her dreams in the Citadel at Troy, and dressed just as richly.
She and Percy caught the attention of a group of sunbathing girls.
They stared at Percy with a sneer but then they grinned brightly at Octavia and waved.
She blushed and smiled, waving back. She almost wanted to go and join them, it looked so fun, but then she heard a voice to distract her. Someone was singing.
The song sounded divine, almost as sweet as Kayla's voice.
She wanted to follow the voice, enchanted. Luckily for her, that's the way they were being led.
