0006. | LOVE SENDS THEM,
MADNESS CATCHES THEMTravis was shaken awake.
His eyes jerked open. He saw someone above him, a silhouetted shadow that he couldn't give a face to. His demigod adrenaline spiked. He went to shout or grab his knife, but the shadow clamped their hand down across his mouth.
"Shush!" The shadow said. Their hand over his mouth revealed their wrist to his nose. He could smell faded perfume and it was strong. He recognised it and suddenly, he recognised the shushing too.
Silena Beauregard leaned over him with an excitable expression. She used her free hand to press her finger to her lips, essentially telling him to keep his mouth shut if he knew what was good for him. He flared his eyes, trying to signal a nod so she would release him. Slowly, she pulled back her hand and the scent of Chanel Number Five left his senses.
He sat up slowly, aware of the embarrassing pyjama shirt he was wearing. He had got it for Christmas last year from his mom. It was neon green and had an illustration of a drunk reindeer that was beneath a speech bubble which read: But Santa told me to keep in the Christmas spirits! The reindeer was also holding a bottle of whisky.
Silena seemed to notice it at the same time he became self-conscious. She stared between his patterned chest and his face with a disapproving look. He guessed drunk reindeers weren't in Vogue.
She pointed at the door of the cabin she had left open ajar. Clearly she wanted to speak outside. "Do you want to change?" She whispered.
He made a face. "Please."
Silena made to wait for him outside.
He decided to get dressed properly, jeans and all. There was a pretty basic rule at Camp which was that everyone went along with whatever the Aphrodite Cabin said because it was nicer to please them than it was to anger them. He pulled a knitted sweater over his t-shirt and came outside to meet Silena.
Unlike him, she was still in her pyjamas. Lacy shorts and a zip-up hoodie that looked like it was barely keeping her warm. Hers weren't as cool as his, there were no designs of drunk festive animals, but that wasn't her fault. He would fix that when her birthday came.
"So..." He muttered and came down onto the green to meet her.
Before he could say anything more, she grabbed his hand and yanked him behind the cabins.
He blushed and hurried after her without choice. Her black hair billowed behind her and nearly choked him but she kept pulling him past the line of cabins and out to the beach at the back of Camp.
The sea was churning quietly, easing in and out of the sand. The crescent moon was high above in the sky and made Silena look angelic in the light. She was bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet, grinning at him.
