26: Complicated Signals

Lian POV

"Anong sports sasalihan mo?" they asked.

"Siya ang magiging muse natin" napailing ako sa kanila pareho.

"Magpra-practice ako for my contest that week" isa pa I don't know any kind of sports.

"Contest? Ulit?"

"Oum, I was chosen by the dean to represent our school for the upcoming painting contest, that week na din yun" and I can't take that down, nung sabihin sa akin yun ng Dean ay agad akong nag-oo.

Painting is one of my passion. And it was such an honor to show my talent on art and also to represent our school.

"Paano yun? Who's gonna be the muse?"

"I can't be. I have my cheerleading team" tanggi agad ni Jhaya.

I was the last school year's muse representative of our section, since I don't know any sports. And with that experience I can say that— I was not that confident to wear skirts— it's not my thing.

"How about you, Leigh?" she's fit din naman to be the muse.

"I list my name sa chess"

"Don't worry about that, for sure may mahahanap silang muse. There's a lot of pretty girls naman sa section natin"

I can agree on that. Most of the pretty girls are on our section.

"Why not, Cary? She's perfect on it din" Leigh suggested.

"You can't force her. She's more interested on playing volleyball than to be the muse"

"Oo nga pala, I clearly remember how she hardly refused before when we insist her"

Cary is the type of girl who's not into girly things, she prefers to be simple and on the shadow. I don't even saw her wearing dress or skirts.

"Ay Lian, edi hindi mo mapapanood maglaro si Jhas"

"I can sneak out naman sa practice ko to watch him" every year, walang palya yata akong abang sa laro niya. I'm always there to cheer him.

"Iba talaga ang kapit ni Jhas sayo noh, halatang inlove" tukso ni Leigh sa akin.

"So, what's the real score?" Jhaya asked.

"I don't know. But I think we're making a process"

I can't help but to smile every time I remembered what happened the other night. That moment is still fresh in my head.

"Oh my gosh! You're blushing!"

"Hindi ah" napahawak tuloy ako sa pisngi ko.

Nagtawanan lang kami sa pang-aasar nila sa akin. Napakunot ako ng noo ng mapansin si Khiya na dumaan.

"Is that, Khiya? Khiya!" I called her nung dumaan siya.

Something off to her. Para siyang wala sa sarili na naglalakad. Tulala lang.

"Don't call her, I don't want that girl to be here"

"What happened to her?" I asked.

"Hindi mo pa alam?" I furrowed again, ano namang nangyari? Don't tell me nag-away na naman sila.

"Alam ang alin?"

"Wala ka nga pala kanina sa room, Cole announced that he broke up with that nerd" nagulat ako sa sinabi nito.

"What?" wala pang isang buwan after he announced that they're in a relationship.

"I'm not surprised. Halata namang walang chemistry sa dalwa, trip lang siguro siya ni Cole"
