Before she knew it, the race weekend was over and they were headed back to the airport to fly back to Monaco.

Up until the point they'd actually arrived at the airport, Hannah was still living in some kind of delusional dream land that Lando was going to surprise her and say he was coming home with them until the next race.

But instead, he'd loaded hers and Isla's suitcases in the car, driving them to the airport in relative silence as Hannah stared out of the window, willing herself not to cry. Isla was doing enough off that for the both of them. She had taken the news her Dad wasn't coming home with them even worse than Hannah had.

"It's not for long." Lando said softly, his hand finding its way from the gearstick onto Hannah's thigh, and she wasn't sure if he was talking to her or Isla. "I'll be home between China and Miami."

"I know." Hannah answered quietly. She decided it was best not to point out that he was still talking about being away for another month.

"You could just come with me." He suggested again. "We could cancel your flight."

Hannah shook her head. "It's not fair on her, Lando. She needs her home, a routine. We can't keep dragging her around all these countries and time zones and expecting her to live in hotel rooms."

"I know." Lando sighed. "But I really miss you."

"Come home with us then." The words slipped out of Hannah's mouth, with audible frustration, before she could stop herself. Because for all the times he'd told her over the course of the weekend how much he hated being away from them and missed them, he didn't seem to be doing anything to solve the issue.

"Hannah." Lando sighed. "You know I can't." He pulled the car into the drop off bay at the airport, switching the engine off.

"All I heard is you've got a load of golf plans with your friends." Hannah shot back, the anger that had been simmering away all morning finally bubbling over.

"Come on, Hannah." Lando sighed again. "You know it's not that. There's sponsor events and I've got meetings to go to."

"All you and Carlos have been able to talk about all weekend is this bloody golf trip!" She cried. "And what? I'm supposed to be fine with going home on my own to take care of our child while you just carry on like nothing has changed?!"

"Hannah." Lando lowered his voice, eyes flickering back to Isla who was watching them curiously from the back seat. "It's my job, we knew it was going to be like this. It's not forever. We can make it work."

"You keep saying it's your job, Lando... but I'm your wife, we have a daughter." Hannah choked out. "I don't know how long you think we can keep sacrificing everything for you to keep doing this. I have a career too, but I'm the one that has to put everything on hold again and again, for you."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"I don't know." Hannah admitted, eyes wandering over to Isla still sifting quietly in the back seat. "But we can't keep doing this, Lando. It's not fair on me and it's not fair on her."

She unbuckled her seatbelt, getting ready to get out of the car. If she didn't start moving she was going to miss her flight, and this wasn't a new argument, they could carry on like this for an hour and they'd still just be going round in circles. It had been going on for months.

"I love you." Lando said softly, wrapping his arms around her as they said goodbye, as though the words somehow made up for everything that hung in the air between them. "We'll work it out, okay. I promise. I'll talk to Zak, I'll sort it out."

Hannah chose to ignore it. She'd heard this particular promise far too many times before for it to mean anything at this point. "Alright, give daddy a kiss sweetheart, we need to get going." She said to Isla.
