38. Change my priorities

Lando and Isla were almost at MTC when the phone rang, he assumed because Hannah had finally woken up and realised that they weren't there. He hit the phone button on the steering wheel to answer the call.

"Hey, babe. You're awake!" He greeted her.

"Where are you two?" Hannah asked.

"Nearly at MTC." He answered. "There's pancake mix in the fridge. We saved you some."

"Ah, that's why there's flour all over the kitchen?" She asked, a hint of amusement in her voice. "I should've known that meant you two had been up to something."

"We made you chocolate pancakes Mummy!" Isla chimed in.

"Thank you, sweetheart." Hannah cooed through the phone. "Are you going to work with Daddy for the day?"

"Yes!" Isla cheered. "Going to see Uncle Oscar!"

"You could've left her here you know." Hannah told Lando. "We would've been fine."

"She'd have had you awake about four hours ago if I'd done that and you needed the sleep." Lando said softly. "Take the pancakes, go back to bed and get some rest."

"I can come and get her." Hannah offered. "I don't think she's gonna cooperate for more than an hour or two."

"We aren't staying long, just for the party. I already spoke to Zak about it." Lando reassured her. "It's been a while since Isla and I had a day out, it'll be fun."

"You sure you're going to be alright?" Hannah asked hesitantly.

"We're fine, aren't we Isla?" He asked, and his daughter nodded, grinning at him. "She's nodding... but honestly we'll be fine. Go back to bed, get some rest. I'll pick up some dinner on the way home."

"I can cook. I have nothing else to do all day." Hannah offered.

"Don't you dare. Your only job today is to get back into bed and rest." He told her firmly.

"Well, if you change your mind let me know and I'll come and get her." Hannah reluctantly agreed.

"I won't." He shook his head. "We're going to have the best day, aren't we Isla?"

"Alright then." Hannah agreed. "I'm getting pancakes and going back to bed to watch Netflix all day."

"Perfect." Lando smiled. "Love you."

"Love you mummy." Isla chimed in.

"Love you, have a good day." Hannah called back, ending the call.

As he turned off to the main road and headed up the driveway to MTC another McLaren turned in behind him, following them up the road.

"Oh look, here's Uncle Oscar right behind us." Lando said.

Isla turned around in her seat, waving frantically.

"I don't think he can see you sweetheart." Lando chuckled, but she didn't stop waving. "We'll be there in a minute and you can get out and say hi."

He pulled the car up outside the doors, Oscar pulling up behind him.

"Hey mate." Lando greeted him, walking around to the passenger seat to get Isla out of the car. "I have got someone who's very excited to see you."

Oscar looked confused for a second, but then it all made sense as Lando opened the passenger side door and Isla jumped out, bolting across the path and throwing her arms around Oscar's knees.

"Oh hi there." Oscar laughed, bending down to pick her up as she stood with her arms in the air waiting expectantly. "Have you come to be our apprentice for the day?
