"Hey!" Lando came bounding back through the door of their bedroom on Sunday evening with the biggest grin on his face.

He'd clearly meant it when he said he'd booked to fly home straight after the race. He hadn't even got changed and she'd not long ago put Isla to bed, it wasn't even completely dark outside he'd made it home so quickly.

She wasn't surprised in the slightest that he was so happy. Whatever McLaren had been doing to the car was clearly working. He'd somehow managed to take the win with a nearly twenty second lead, something that had seemed impossible at the beginning of the season.

Before Hannah could say anything though Lando suddenly clocked that Bolt was on the bed, laying in the spot usually occupied by Lando.

"What happened to him not being allowed upstairs?" He laughed.

"He's cute, and someone has to keep me company when you're away." Hannah shrugged. "Plus he kept crying when I left him downstairs. You're lucky Isla's not in here as well yet."

"We might have to buy a bigger bed." Lando joked. "I'm going to go shower, then I'm turfing him out of my spot because I've missed you." He leant down to give her a kiss before heading into the bathroom.

Hannah's stomach lurched realising the fact that he was back meant she was going to have to tell him. She'd spent most of the weekend in denial and kept handing him off to Isla when he called which had avoided too many conversations where he could ask her questions.

She'd kept telling herself that she'd just tell him when he came home. There was no point in doing it over the phone, a few more days wouldn't hurt. But now he was here in front of her, she couldn't bring herself to say the words.

He looked so happy, positively glowing, from the excitement of his race win. She had a feeling that what she had to say, if he felt anything like she did, was going to put quite the dampener on his mood.

But when he emerged from the shower, hair still wet and towel wrapped around his waist, that familiar smirk on his face she lost all the courage she'd been trying to work up to tell him. Instead he'd scooped the puppy off the bed and disappeared off for a second- she assumed to put the puppy in with Isla- and then reappeared and climbed into bed beside her.

She'd known straight away from the look on his face, the way his hands landed on her waist as he leant into kiss her, that there was only one thing on his mind.

There was no chance of having a sensible conversation with him, and she wasn't exactly upset about it. So she kissed him back, tangling her fingers into his hair as he kissed her eagerly, hands already sliding into her pyjamas.

"I've missed you so fucking much." He mumbled, kissing a trail down her neck. "Couldn't wait to get back to you.... All I was thinking about on the podium."

Lando had fallen asleep fairly quickly, but Hannah had been tossing and turning for hours before she eventually gave up and got out of bed. She peered into Isla's room on her way past, smiling as she saw Bolt curled up at the foot of the bed, her daughter sleeping peacefully.

She wandered downstairs to get herself a glass of water, standing in the kitchen staring out of the window blankly. Her stomach was churning and she wasn't sure if she actually felt sick or if it was just the anxiety of knowing that Lando was back and she was finally going to have to confront the issue.

Alice had been calling her repeatedly, and she'd just ignored her. She didn't want to have the conversation, didn't want to acknowledge it or even think about it. She wanted to go back to burying her head in the sand, back when she'd been blissfully unaware. Back before she had to think about what this would mean for their future.
