True to his word, Lando had helped her to box up everything that was being shipped over from Monaco when they returned from summer break.
But when they'd arrived back in the UK to a house filled of boxes waiting to be unpacked, he'd promptly disappeared back to MTC to continue negotiating with Zak about his contract renewal.
Hannah didn't mind too much, she knew it was probably going to be a lot quicker to let him do what he needed to do and unpack herself, and especially given how much complaining he'd done when they'd been packing it all up.
So she'd spent the day pottering around the house unpacking things as she went, keeping an eye on Isla who was running around the garden playing with a football. It brought a smile to her face, it was so nice to see after the years of living in Monaco with no garden.
She'd been briefly interrupted by a knock at the door, opening it to find Cisca stood there. "I thought you might need some help unpacking?" She explained, following Hannah inside. "It's lovely in here, isn't it? So much nicer than the photos Lando showed me!"
"Yeah, it's lovely." Hannah agreed. "Isla is loving the garden!" She pointed in the direction of the open doors. "Lando is adamant he's going to build her a treehouse."
Cisca chucked. "I don't think he's ever even put furniture together successfully. I can get Adam to come and help him."
"I think that might be for the best." Hannah agreed.
"It's so nice to have you both close by." Cisca smiled.
"It'll be good, fresh start." Hannah nodded. "I think it's what we both need."
The two of them were still unpacking in the kitchen, not aided by Isla coming to drag them out in the garden to play intermittently, when Lando phoned late afternoon.
"Hey, are you on the way back?" Hannah asked, leaving her phone on the kitchen counter on speaker as she carried on putting plates away in to the cupboard.
"Yeah... I am...." He said slowly, considering his words.
"Why did you say it like that?" Hannah frowned, pausing and turning in the direction of her phone.
Cisca had also stopped at the weird tone of his voice.
"I uh... I have a surprise for you?" He said hopefully, not sounding particularly sure of himself as he said it.
"What did you do?" Hannah asked. "Is this going to be one of those surprises that makes me want to kill you? Your mum's here by the way, so we might both kill you if it's really stupid."
Lando laughed nervously. "I'll be home in half an hour. Love you."
"Love you." Hannah answered as he hung up the call. She turned to Cisca. "Do we have a bet on what stupid thing he's done now?"
Cisca chuckled, going back to putting the cutlery away in the drawer. "The possibilities are endless."
Hannah kept one eye on the time as the minutes seemed to drag on, it had definitely been longer than half an hour since he'd called.
The gravel on the driveway crunching signified he had finally returned home, and as Hannah went to the front door and opened it Lando climbed out of the car with an incredibly guilty expression on his face.
"What have you done?" Hannah asked. She knew this expression well, it was the same one that Isla wore when she didn't want to tell her that she'd broken something.
"You're not going to be mad... I think... I hope..." he grinned as he walked around and opened the passenger side of the car.
"What have you done?" Hannah asked again.
