In the days after the U.S. Government announcing a new Captain America, AJ and Becca had been flooded with calls asking for a statement. It was annoying both super soldiers, but they needed to be meticulous about when they wanted to release said statement. They got their chance when Good Morning America aired an interview with the new so called 'Captain.'

During the broadcast, the interview cut back to the studio with breaking news. AJ and Becca were put on camera with both super soldiers wearing their Shadow and Taskmaster suits. They waited for their cue from the studio.

"You sure about this?" Becca asked, feeling nervous about what they were about to do.

"Of course I am." AJ replied, also nervous but masking it well.

"We apologize for interrupting the interview with the new Captain, but we have breaking news: The Avengers are releasing a new statement." The news anchor said and AJ got his cue from the camera guy to start.

"Good morning our fellow Americans, on behalf of the Avengers, and Steve Rogers, we have a statement we would like to read." AJ started then looked over his left shoulder at Becca who nodded. "The Avengers are a privately run organization, ran by myself and my partner, Taskmaster. While Steve was here, we came to a decision as partners that we and we alone would elect new members into our organization. Government officials have no say in who gets to become an Avenger or who takes up a legacy. Being an Avenger is not something to be taken lightly, the Avengers are a family. Taskmaster and I served along side Captain America in World War II, not as his sidekicks, but as his partners, his equals."

AJ took a deep breath to steady himself before continuing.

"When we woke up from the ice, the three of us were asked to lead the Avengers, and we did. We lead them into a war against a big purple alien who wanted to take out all of humanity. Steve Rogers, Captain America passed down his shield and legacy to Sam Wilson, not John Walker. As I mentioned before, we elect our own members, and the Avengers do not recognize John Walker as Captain America nor is he an official Avenger. We recognize Sam Wilson as our Captain America and the rightful owner of the Captain's shield, because it's who Steve chose to carry on his legacy."

AJ saw all of the shocked faces, but he didn't care. He was doing what he thought was right, not just for himself and Becca, but for Bucky, Sam, and Steve.

"This is Mr. Walker's first and only warning: Return the Captain's shield to the Avengers. Failure to do so will be taken as an Avengers level threat, and will be handled as such."

With that said, both AJ and Becca walked off camera leaving behind a stunned America. They drew their line in the sand, and they were prepared to face whatever aftermath may come with it.

When AJ got home after his and Becca's joint statement, he went from being the Commander and leader of the Avengers, to full time dad and husband. The second he opened and closed the front door to the Watson's home, he was met with the sound of footsteps rapidly approaching him along with a pair of voices.

"Daddy!" Erin and Phoenyx shouted running up to their father who smiled at them before picking both of them up in his arms.

"Hey girls." He greeted kissing both of their cheeks as they hugged either side of his neck. "Did you two keep momma out of trouble while I was gone?"

"Hey!" Yelena shouted walking into the front hallway of the home with a shocked and offended look on her face.
