Winter Soldier Revealed

The super soldiers made it back to the truck and fled the now destroyed Camp Lehigh. The drive was quiet for the three friends as they were all thinking to themselves. Steve was driving while Becca was in the back with the unconscious Natasha and Yelena. Both of the widow's heads were resting on her lap.

Steve and AJ would glance back at the three while AJ gently took Yelena's hand and gave it a slight squeeze. Rebecca would move Nat's hair out of her face while she was running her hands through it. Both AJ and Steve knew Becca cared for Natasha just as much as Becca and Steve knew AJ cared for Yelena.

"How are they?" Steve asked.

"Their breathing is normal." Becca replied.

"AJ?"

"Heart rate is steady. Consistent with sleeping." AJ replied.

"Nothing seems broken from what I can see." Becca said looking the two over.

Steve nodded as they continued to drive. There was silence until the youngest decided to speak up.

"I guess it was all for nothing."

"What do you mean?" Becca asked.

"I mean, we put that bird into the ice seventy years ago under the assumption that we had just taken down HYDRA, just for it to mean nothing. We gave up everything, and HYDRA took over because we weren't here." AJ said getting frustrated.

"AJ, we couldn't have known that S.H.I.E.L.D. was going to bring in Zola." Steve said keeping his eyes on the road. "But I do agree, We're right back to where we started when we first started taking on HYDRA."

"We'll end this, boys." Becca reassured. "One way or another, and we'll do it like we always have... Together."

The sisters stirred away and looked around the truck with narrowed eyes.

"Wha... What happened?" Yelena asked tightening her grip on AJ's hand.

"Where are we?" Natasha asked.

"Good to see you two awake." AJ said with a smirk. "We're on our way to some place safe. We've been on the road for a while now."

Yelena climbed into the front seat and sat on AJ's lap and buried her head into his neck while she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"You okay?" AJ whispered.

"I am now." She replied and took in his scent.

"Some place safe?" Natasha asked. "Where is it?"

Steve looked at the two next to him then into the rearview mirror. "A friends."

A knock at the back door alerted the homeowner inside right before he took a drink of Orange Juice. Sam Wilson approached the door and opened it and was surprised to see AJ, Becca, and Steve with their friends Natasha and Yelena at his doorstep. By the looks of their clothes and bruises on their faces, he immediately knew they all needed his help.

"Hey, man." Sam greeted

AJ was holding Yelena beside him as Becca was doing the same for Natasha. Steve was the one who spoke up.

"I'm sorry about this. We need a place to lay low."

"Everyone we know is trying to kill us." Natasha added.

Sam looked at Steve, AJ, and Becca who nodded. He then looked out at his yard.

"Not everyone."

Sam let them in and shut the door then the blinds.
