The team arrived back in D.C. where AJ was taken to the medical bay where he can be stitched up for his shoulder injuries. Steve and Rebecca accompanied him as they insisted on him not being alone as he was being patched up.
"You both know I'm an adult now, right?" AJ joked as Steve and Becca were right by his side as he was getting his stitches.
"We do." Steve replied. "Doesn't mean we aren't concerned for your well being."
"And we know how afraid you are of needles." Becca added with a smirk.
"Scared of needles? I haven't been scared of needed since I was twelve." AJ defended.
"All finished, Commander." The doctor said as he finished bandaging AJ. "You're free to go. You should be healed completely by the end of the day."
"Thanks Doc." AJ said as hopped down from the bed.
The three friends went with AJ so he could change into a new suit that wasn't covered in blood or ripped. Once AJ was changed the three friends went to Fury's office in their usual mission attire, but AJ and Becca weren't wearing their masks currently.
When they approached the office, Steve stormed in with AJ and Becca letting out a sigh at how mad Steve was.
"You just can't stop yourself from lying, can you?" Steve said as he walked up to Fury's desk.
"I didn't lie. Agents Romanoff and Belova had a different mission than yours." Fury replied.
"Which you didn't feel obliged to share."
"I'm not obliged to do anything."
"Those hostages could've died, Nick."
Becca and AJ were now pinching the bridge of their noses while they had their eyes shut and shook their heads slightly.
"I sent the greatest soldiers in history to make sure that didn't happen."
"Soldiers trust each other, that's what makes it an army. Not a bunch of guys running around and shooting guns."
"The last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye. Look, I didn't want you doing anything you weren't comfortable with. Agent Romanoff and Agent Belova are comfortable with everything."
AJ and Becca glanced at one another and gave each other a subtle fist bump as they smirked since they were thinking the same thing.

"I can't lead a mission when the people I'm leading have missions of their own."
"I'm sorry, who's best friends with the greatest killer in human history again?" Fury asked as AJ pointed to himself with raised eyebrows. "I'm sure Commander Watson had his own orders during the war and those orders were to keep you and Lieutenant Barnes alive. It's called compartmentalization. Nobody spills the secrets because nobody knows them all."
