Kapitulo 5

Suddenly, a New Boy

Cyra and Adiel's closeness didn't decrease during high school. They were more inseparable than ever. This was a metaphorical and literal statement. For the past two years of high school, they were classmates. Sometimes, teen Cyra thinks they might drift apart since they were growing up and her best friend was beginning to get interested in girls. But she was always proven wrong.

Thankfully, Adiel had not officially tried getting a girlfriend—Cyra hadn't been heartbroken. Ever since the day their friends spied on them, she had truly fallen into the pit of infatuation. Sometimes, it would be obvious Cyra liked Adiel, but most times, not. No one else knew of her feelings.

The two were studying in teen Adiel's house right now. It was exams week and they just finished three exams a while ago. Adiel had been bugging Cyra to rest from studying since the girl had been filling her days with books and reviewers for a week.

"Diel, last exams na bukas, saka na tayo manood pagtapos no'n," Cyra replied. "'Tsaka sabi mo, gusto mo ma-perfect 'yong Science."

Cyra eyed the teenage boy and Adiel sighed. He said, "Sige na nga, pero bukas, ah! Panonoorin na natin 'yong Avengers!"

"Yes, yes," teen Cyra agreed.

"Pero, seriously, ayaw mo ba magpahinga muna? Isang oras, gano'n. Wala ka nang ibang ginawa kundi magbasa at memorize since last week. Baka ma-mental block ka na bukas."

"Patapos na ako, just reviewing for the last time. After nito, uuwi na rin—"

Adiel's sudden burst halts Cyra. "Huh?!

So, I should go home na."

The teenage girl sighed and contemplated. She knew that Adiel was right. Tita Mama, as Cyra liked to call Adiel's mother, always prepared food for her when she was here.

Paggising mo, kain tayo meriyenda."

"No way! I don't want to sleep here, nakahihiya."

Adiel thought of an alternative.

"I can't sleep here anymore, Adiel. It was okay when we were kids, but we're big now. It's disrespectful na," paliwanag ng dalaga.

Adiel pouted. "It's not like you're a stranger, my parents see you as their kid na."

Frick, ang cute niya, isip ni Cyra.
