Kapitulo 14

Fit in Each Other's Hearts

Plans made in a rush are executed poorly. Though, not always, just most times. Today, it would be a success.

"You know I don't like spontaneous drives like this, Adiel, ano ba?" iritadong sabi ni Cyra sa lalaking nagmamaneho ngayon papuntang kung saan.

After work, sinundo ni Adiel si Cyra at biglang sinabing mag-roadtrip sila dahil weekend naman. Wala silang dala kundi ang work bags nila.

Cyra was pissed because she wanted to sleep early tonight. Pagod na pagod siya nitong mga nakaraang araw dahil late na siya umuuwi. Her team and she had to finish an annual financial report at may nahanap pa silang anomalya, kaya inayos nila 'yon the past days.

"Sungit naman ni Miss Kapili," Adiel reached for Cyra's cheek to pinch it, but she evaded and looked out the window.

"Sa'n tayo pupunta, Adiel?" tanong nito.

"Kung sa'n man. Ayaw mo ba mag-unwind?"

"I want to sleep."

"Tulog ka muna, gisingin kita kapag nakarating na tayo."

"Ni hindi mo nga alam sa'n tayo pupunta. Nakaiinis ka, Adiel. I really wanted to sleep right now."

"Mag-i-enjoy ka rito, promise. Sige na, tulog ka saglit."

"I better."

The man drove for an hour before arriving at a resort he had booked for the next two days. What Cyra did not know was that Adiel had actually prepared for this trip. He asked Tita, Cyra's mother, to pack her a bag for a two-night and two-day trip.

Adult Adiel already knew that Cyra would be irritated with his decision. But he also knew that when she finds out this wasn't fully abrupt, she'll be fine. Although, nabigla nga talaga ang babae, at naiintindihan naman ni Adiel ang reaksiyon nito.

Mamaya, ngingiti na 'yan, he thought.

Alam ng lalaki na stressed at pagod nga ang nobya niya nitong nakaraang mga araw. Kaya naman paraan ito para lumigaya ang babae saglit bago sumabak uli sa hamon ng trabaho para sa susunod na linggo. Holiday time na, tiyak na mas maraming aasikasuhin ang babae, pati siya, kaya prelude nila itong trip na ito.

"Cy, gising na, narito na tayo," niyugyog nang mahina ni Adiel ang babae.

"Hmm," she groaned as her eyes flickered open.

"We're here, love."

"Where did you bring me?" she sits up and looks around.

"A place you've had on your bucket list for a while. Come on."

She gets out of the car and blinks while staring at her surroundings. Pebbles as her ground. Wooden fence behind the car. A cabin-style building and a few trees around the parking lot. There were a few stray cats and dogs staring at her.

"Diel," Cyra faces him. "You planned this."

"I did, for a month. Surprise talaga 'to, pero sakto rin kasi need mo ng breather from work," he said. "So, I'm sorry I took you here without notice, but I just really wanted to surprise you. Para mabawasan na 'yong bucketlist mo."

Cyra feels her heart ache a little. She stares at him and feels as though an explosion of fireworks has occurred before them. She smiles and holds one of his hands. "Thank you," aniya.

This was my person; he always knew what I wanted before I even asked, Cyra concluded in her head.

Plano pala talaga ito ni Adiel, hindi ito biglaan. Kahit nabigla, hindi siya pumunta ng hindi prepared dahil inihanda na ito para sa kaniya. Parang nadudurog ang puso ni Cyra sa sayang nararamdaman niya, parang sobra. Pero bumabalik din sa dating anyo, tapos tumitibok ulit. Her chest was warming up, and she felt her eyes releasing tears.
