Isang Buong Araw

In Cyra's plans, there were no options to leave again, even if things wouldn't work out. Thinking about her marriage not working out anymore not only crushed her dreams and plans but also made the future scary to think about.

A life without Adiel?

Emptiness.

Nothingness.

Hopelessness.

She'd live, yes. But she'd also die day after day.

It wasn't dark. No. It was worse than darkness. It was as if she could touch the future but couldn't see it. Bulag niyang haharapin ang kinabukasan niya kung hindi niya kasama ang asawa ro'n.

Still, she wouldn't leave again.

Wife Cyra wiped her sweat while pouring water on the glass of husband Adiel. It was the weekend again, and her husband was willing to eat with her again. And this time, he actually spoke some words. Oh, how Cyra's heart lept.

"Sasama ka ba sa birthday ni Summer?" he asked while getting food from the pot of hot caldereta.

"Birthday? Uh..." Cyra stammered. "Uh... Oo, oo! Sasama ako. Sa Batangas, 'di ba? Ikaw? Punta ka?"

Adiel nods. "Summer said na sumabay ka na sa 'kin kasi mahirap daw pumunta ro'n ng commute. Wala kang kotse, 'di ba?"

His wife nods and sits down, forgetting to pour water on her glass. Nagsimula nang kumain ang lalaki habang gulat pa rin si Cyra sa simpleng pagpapalitan ng salita. Tapos, isasabay pa siya ni Adiel papuntang Batangas.

Gumagana na siguro ang panalangin ng babae.

The birthday getaway of their friend was tomorrow. It was a 5-day staycation, all expenses paid by Summer's husband who happened to know the owner of the resort the friend group would stay at. Nakabasta na si Cyra simula kahapon. Inalam niya na rin ang pag-commute papunta sa venue. But now, she didn't have to worry about transportation.

Cyra smiles before beginning to eat. Her eyes moved towards Adiel who was busy chewing. The view was light and optimistic, in a sense, it demanded for her to hope. After months of silence, his voice seemed like a light for her.

But there was also anxiety looming around her as she was going to face people who hated her guts as much, or maybe more, as her husband did. Alyssa, Summer, and Gwyneth would probably be the only ones who would interact with her during the getaway. Magdadasal na lang uli siya ngayong gabi para walang mangyari sa staycation nila. Kung mayro'n man, sana maganda ang patunguhan nito.

After dinner, Adiel began packing his things. Backpack lang ang dadalhin niya, kasya na ro'n ang lahat ng gamit niya. Damit, toiletries, emergency kit, at charger lang naman ang kailangan niya bukod sa wallet. His gift for his friend was in a paper bag, it was a Burberry bag. Sabi dati ni Cyra sa kaniya, mahilig si Summer sa ganoong tipong brand. Although it was expensive, he didn't mind. Summer was one of the people who helped him when Cyra was still gone. Money was never going to be an issue when it came to people who he appreciated.
