Kapitulo 30
All-or-Nothing
Cyra's feet move before her mind functions. She makes an abrupt decision without thinking about the consequences. She almost sprints towards him.
When Adiel noticed, he shook his head and said, "Leave me alone, Cy. I need to be alone."
For the first time, she didn't listen to him. It was out of her character, but she continued to go to him. Just before she could touch his arm, nakapasok na si Adiel sa walang taong elevator. Cyra entered too.
Gazes intense. Breathing unevenly. Lips half-opened. They looked like a mess. But it was a mess you expected, it wasn't out of order. It was an acceptable ruin waiting for closure.
"Ano, Cyra? Adiel said angrily.
"Dahil gusto kong mag-usap pa tayo. Gusto kong marinig ka. Gusto kong malaman kung mayroon pa bang tayo," Cyra replied. "Gusto kong makinig. Ano man ang sasabihin mo, gusto kong marinig. Mumurahin man o isusumpa, gusto kong marinig."
Kumunot ang noo ni Adiel at napailing. "Bakit?
Cyra stepped closer. "No, I know for a fact you will never take revenge because you love me. But I do know that when you're angry, you try to control yourself and be rational. What I did, though, it's... something you can never be cool about. I want you to let it out again because carrying that will only hurt you more."
The husband tears up once again. He opened his mouth. "I love you, and I despise you."
Cyra didn't react; she just listened.
"You made me think I wasn't a good enough reason to stay. You made me think our marriage was useless in the face of a hard situation. You made me believe we'd be strong together during a storm, yet you left in the middle of a lightning," he said before clenching his teeth. "How can you say you love me now, despite how easily you left back then? Walang sense, Cyra, wala!"
"Hindi ko sinabing madali, Diel, leaving you was never easy," kontra ni Cyra.
"So, ano'ng sinasabi mo? That it was the hardest thing you've ever done? Ano 'to? Teleserye?" bara ng lalaki.
The woman looks at the floor. "Yes, it was the hardest decision I've made," her eyes goes back to him, "It still is, Adiel. I was drowning in my own tears.
Cyra's eyes widened a little. "I–"
Walang kuwenta 'yong pag-alis mo, Cyra."
The elevator's doors open, and they're faced with the beach. Adiel goes out and walks towards the sand. The beach bar was open, but there weren't many people. The restaurant was closing down.
"Ano ba'ng gusto mong mangyari, Cyra?" he asked.
