Kapitulo 6

How did it happen?

People plan not just to make sure the future goes smoothly but also to avoid getting hurt. Teen Cyra unconsciously did this when she met Kenjie Vigo.

She tried to check if she would develop feelings, but Adiel kept popping in her mind whenever she did—the teenage boy was inescapable for teen Cyra. In a way, it was teen Cyra's way of moving on from her best friend too.

It was a matter of time before Adiel would get a girl too.

Cyra didn't want to end up in tears once Adiel's girlfriend was in front of her. But she failed with this first plan. So, all she did for the remainder of eighth grade was wish Adiel wouldn't introduce anyone until she could move on.

"Ayaw mo bang umamin? Feel ko gusto ka rin niya," Summer encouraged Cyra.

Summer was the new friend Cyra made during seventh grade. Since Cyra's old friends went to different schools, she met new people. Another new friend was Niki.

The girls were at the grounds of their school, attending a mass their school prepared. Magkakatabi sila at nagbubulungan.

"I don't think so. Haven't you noticed how careful he's been with you recently? Palagi ka niyang inaalalayan," balik ni Summer.

Niki was just listening to the two. She was busy looking at her classmates since she was the secretary of their class, and she had to check if anyone had arrived late.

"Gano'n naman lagi si Diel, Summer. 'Di 'yon bago sa 'min."

"Hindi, I mean, extra careful siya and caring."

"What do you mean?"

"Like... Last week, 'di ba, 'yong PE natin, dodgeball? Kalaban natin 'yong ibang section, 'di ba?"

Cyra nods. "Oo."

"Didn't you notice how he kept on pulling and pushing you para 'di ka matamaan no'ng bola? Like, girl, ilang beses ka na dapat maa-out no'n sa game, but he kept on saving you."

Retracing what happened in that PE class, teen Cyra thinks for a moment.

Oh, he did, Cyra remembered.

"Also, the past months, 'di ba, sabay na uli kayo mag-lunch? 'Di ka na niya tinatantanan, parang no'ng grade school. 'Di ba, sabi mo, gano'n siya before?"

Teenage Cyra agrees by bobbing her head twice. "Pero, that's usual Adiel. We're really attached with each other, kaya palagi kami magkasama."

Summer replied, "Hanggang sa uwian? 'Di ba, you guys stay at your house or his almost every day?"

"Oo, pero minsan naman, kasama kayo, ah?"

Summer stared at Cyra for some seconds and sighed. "You might be right, but I just feel like... something changed between you guys."

"Wala, we're just like always. Ikaw kasi, e," Cyra pokes Summer's waist. "You ship us, kaya kung ano-ano na naiisip mo. Last year din, ganiyan sinabi mo about Kenjie."

Summer's eyes widened as her voice slightly raised. "Hey, tama ako ro'n!" Some eyes turned to her.

Because of that, their adviser called the two girls. "Cyra, Summer!"
