Dusk fell, and after Balin and his two nephews were done watching 'PJ Masks', he and Kai were now playing one of their board games in their play area while Loona was back in the living room with the grown-ups, watching a game show where the contestants had to sing a song correctly, lyric or genre, without getting hit by a catapult of ice-cream.
While Pops, Uncle BJ, and Aunty Corra were finishing their takeout dinner, Balin's Nan-Nan showed Loona some of the pictures that were taken of the Johnson family. Not just when Balin was a baby, but when his dad was a baby AND when he and his mother were dating.
"This one right here was where he and Raven had met. It was at a carnival where I remember the first thing he ever told her." Nan-Nan spoke, with Loona trying to look at the pictures away from her phone.
"He said to her: I can't wait to see the merry-go-round in this parade." she continued, making Loona scoff out a chuckle or two. "And you had to be there when he screamed like a little girl as the ponies went on a rampage." chuckled Nan-Nan as she continued. Loona wanted to say so bad that she wasn't born around that time yet, but figured it wouldn't be right.
"Because you let them out, didn't you." she said with a wry and smug look. "I just couldn't resist, could you blame me?" she then laughed with everyone else.
BJ looked at a chuckling Corra with Baby Mitch and blushed, thought to himself: 'Are you shitting me mom? At least it wasn't as bad as what you did in the movie theatre!'
"Yeah... I know how he feels too." Loona then chuckled as well, but only a little. "My dad's definitely like that."
"Speaking of your dad Loona, what does he and your friends do for a living?" Pops asked the teenage hellhound-in-disguise. That question had Loona shocked, knowing that these members of the family were more civil than his parents, especially its elders.
"They're just colleagues, old man." she said sheepishly. "But still, you wouldn't want to know."
"Mmm, seems only right not to." Corra shrugged. "That guy's an effing weirdo anyway."
She was right about that, and Loona knew that. But she did have her moments with or without him, so smiling for a millimetre of a second, she decided to tell them anyway.
"You see, my dad... my ADOPTED dad!" she began explaining a little awkwardly, but then cleared her throat and continued. "Sorry. He owns this company where he and said colleagues go and exact revenge on the a-holes who screwed over the lives of our clients, who then pay us in return, dead or alive. But mostly alive."
Everyone was stunned hearing this. "Don't worry about me though, I'm just the receptionist." she finished after a silence.
"So... your co-workers are bounty hunters?" Nan-Nan asked her. "Yep. Pretty much." she replied with a shrug.
"That's... rather cool." BJ said with intrigue. "Our world's full of so much of those a-holes these days. I wish I could meet these guys and give them my thanks."
"Oh, Mr. Johnson. You wouldn't want to, believe me. But I can say 'you're welcome' on their behalf." "Sure." BJ replied.
Mitch soon started yawning like the little baby he was, being cradled in Corra's arms.
"Well, best that's our cue." Corra chuckled. "Time to get this little guy to his crib."
"Hey Kai! We're just getting ready to leave now mate!" BJ exclaimed to his older brother while the baby was still awake. And just then, Kai walked upstairs from the play area with Balin following him.
"Well, mom, dad, great to catch up again as always." Corra. said before looking to Balin. "Especially with you Balin. We're just so glad you're safe."
"That's right, mate." added BJ. "If you ever need us to take you under our wing, we'll be there for you."
