Chapter 23

"This is nerve-wracking." Will said as he and Nico were waiting outside of Nico's house, waiting for Percy to come pick them up along with Annabeth.
"You'll be fine. Look, Percy may try to seem a little scary, but he's a huge softie." Nico said, looking at Will.
"... Really?" Will questioned.
"Really." Nico nodded, slipping his hand into Will's, squeezing it.

Nico and Will's attention was brought to a car which pulled up. The window rolled down and Nico saw Percy looking out and waving at Nico.
"Hey! Get over here, we're gonna be late!" Percy called.
Nico rolled his eyes as he went ahead and walked towards the car, dragging Will behind.

"Then why didn't you come here a few minutes early?" Nico questioned as he made it to the car.
"Percy was just trying to think of ways to intimidate Will when we first met him." Annabeth smiled at Nico.
Nico looked at Annabeth who was in the passengers seat next to Percy.
"Ah, well, go ahead and intimidate him then." Nico said, yanking Will over.

"Ah! Uhm, hello. Nice to meet you, Percy, Annabeth." Will smiled at Percy and Annabeth.
"Hi Will, nice to meet you too." Annabeth smiled at Will.
Will looked at Percy and Percy glared at him, squinting his eyes at him.
"Get in, seriously, we don't want to be late." Percy said, looking away.

"... Ooh, so scary..." Will mumbled sarcastically under his breath as Nico opened the car door to the backseats.
"What was that?" Percy snapped.
"Will was just talking to himself." Nico said, quickly shoving Will into the back.

"Gah, Neeks! Could you be more gentle with me?" Will frowned as he got in the car properly.
Nico got in next to Will, shutting the car door and fastening his seat belt.
"Awh, sorry Solace, you know that I adore you." Nico smiled at Will.
Will's cheeks turned red as he quickly fastened his seat belt.

"Done flirting?" Percy questioned, glancing at the two boys through the rear view mirror.
"Yep!" Nico answered. "Drive on, Percy. Eyes on the road and leave the interrogating and the embarrassment for when we're at the restaurant!"

Will awkwardly sipped on the glass of lemonade he had ordered as Percy was glaring at him from across the table. Nico cleared his throat as he fiddled with his fingers and Annabeth sighed out, shaking her head slightly.

"So, Will. Magnus has mentioned you a couple of times, you seem really sweet from what he's told me." Annabeth said, smiling at Will.
Will took the straw out of his mouth, gently pushing aside his glass of lemonade and smiling at Annabeth.
"Really? I'm glad that Magnus has spoke well of me." Will said.

"You seemed surprised, is it because you're not a nice guy?" Percy questioned.
Annabeth clicked her tongue and Will looked at Percy.
"Well, it's not as if Magnus compliments me a lot. He and Alex tease me a lot, so..." Will answered.

"Magnus mentioned you're into art!" Annabeth exclaimed. "Nico has too, says you're a good artist. I like a bit of art myself, though I'm more into architecture."
Will looked back at Annabeth.
"Oof, architecture seems more difficult to me. You must be really talented, I mean, Nico has mentioned how smart you are, so has Magnus. He's even mentioned your interest in Greek mythology, have you visited any-?" Will began to make small talk with Annabeth.

Nico looked at Percy and he brought his hand towards Percy's face, snapping his fingers, catching Percy's attention. Nico leaned in a little.
"You're being ridiculous, you need to quit acting like you're my dad." Nico scolded quietly as Annabeth and Will continued chatting.
"Your dad? Neeks, if anything, I'm like your older protective brother-" Percy began.
"You need to stop." Nico glared at Percy.

"Will is super sweet, I mean, our first date went really well and he paid for everything, even gave me a bouquet of flowers and- Percy, just... please."
Percy's gaze softened as Nico pleaded him and Percy sighed as he leaned back. Nico took that as Percy would try to be nice and he sat back up properly too.
