Standing in silence for more than an hour, Lys had the strange impression of being a statue. She was waiting, with all the future students lined up in a row, for the traditional opening of the massive doors of the Cigam Academy. In front of her, two Electromancers of her age seemed to be talking mentally.

A bell rang suddenly. Her interest brutally rekindled, Lys watched the doors of the Academy slowly open, revealing the inner courtyard of the institution.

The first thing she saw of Cigam Academy was the huge garden – the closed doors didn't count, it was the outside. Huge cypress trees rose majestically to the sky, lining a pristine walkway that led to the main building, so far that Lys didn't want to walk there at all.

She swallowed. She had just noticed a huge brownish stain on the alley that looked like a huge dried blood stain requiring an equally immense amount of blood... Much more than the five or six liters of blood in a human body.

The young girl, with an ominous pallor, decided to focus her attention on the rest of the garden in the hope of discovering a sudden passion for horticulture that could prevent her from wondering why this task was there. And why she was always there: nothing stopped them from cleaning... especially since the Academy only opened its doors every ten years for a three-year course, which left them seven years to make this task disappear.

And yet she was still there and turning Lys's brain upside down.
