The Walker arrived several minutes late for her "Nap" class. Her teacher, Master Sium, a small, plump man whose glasses accentuated his piercing gaze, intercepted her as soon as he entered the classroom:

"I hope you have a good excuse for your lack of punctuality."

"I'm terribly sorry," Lauren said, plucking up her courage, "but you see, the class before yours is on the other side of the school. Far be it from me to use this fact to claim the right to arrive late for your class," she said, wringing her hands in nervousness.

The teacher scrutinized her.

"I guess you're not going to be on time many more times," he sighed at last. "Ok. I excuse you. However, do your best to arrive as little late as possible, shall you? You risk waking up your comrades. Please follow me quietly."

Full of gratitude, Lauren followed him. The teacher of "Nap" seemed understanding – she had imagined all kinds of scenarios on the way, each one more terrible than the last.

As she walked forward after the teacher, she observed the peculiar arrangement of the room. There were no tables or chairs. Comfortable-looking beds were the only furniture in the room. The students who were in it could be divided into two categories: on the one hand, those who slept peacefully; on the other, the Walkers who focused intensely on using their powers.

The professor paused in front of an empty bed.

"Here is your bed. And this is your partner, Lys," he said, pointing to a young girl next to him.

When she heard her name, the young girl opened her eyes and straightened up, surprising the Walker. She thought the girl – Lys, he had said – was asleep!

"You'll get to know each other quickly," explained Master Sium. "Then Lys will fall asleep and you will have to enter his dreams. It's okay if you can't do it – most of the time, it takes several sessions before you get a first result."

"Okay," Lauren nodded before the professor walked away.

She was determined. If her schedule forced her to arrive late, she would redouble her efforts to prove her interest in the subject!
