Nurish was finishing joking down additional information when C returned to float by his side.
"I saw the body!" exclaimed the ghost. "And frankly, it's not pretty. Apparently, the victim's name is Lauren. She is – was – a Walker."
"What does it look like?" he whispered.
"Now? To a corpse, what a question."
The Gold rolled his eyes. Was it impossible for the ghost to remain serious for more than a few seconds?
"Joking aside, it was cut in half in the width. There was guts and blood everywhere... If I ate any more, I would have vomited. Oh! and the wound was not clear. The flesh was in tatters."
"Is the wound large?" he asked.
"Hard to say... But I think so."
With a quick gesture, Nurish crossed different species off his list until only the Vampires and Golds remained.
"Perfect, it reduces the field of possibilities," the young man rejoices. "So we're dealing with vampiric claws or a Gold ability."
"Not so fast. I haven't mentioned everything yet," C said. "If she was a student of the Academy, she was between 17 and 27 years old, right? But she looked like a septuagenarian. Silver hair, wrinkles, the total! And she looked parched, as if an Achron had accelerated her aging."
The budding detective froze.
"What?"
The other students turned to him, and he bowed his head sharply. To edit the "time" of a third person, one had to be a particularly powerful Achron. In this case, there were three possibilities: a student with immeasurable genius, a teacher, or a postman from outside Cigam. The first two options were the least likely. Then... Had someone hired a hitman to eliminate this girl?
And above all, why had they wanted to kill Lauren?
