A woman suddenly clapped her hands, startling young Achron. She hadn't noticed it until then. Standing in the middle of the aisle, she wore Cigam's uniform: black pants and a black top, topped with a dark purple jacket whose color indicated his rank as dictato... director. A blue-tinted monocle hid one of his eyes. Her long silver hair was gathered in braids that waved slightly when she spoke.

"Future heirs and future failures, I salute you!"

Strange introduction, Lys thought. The young Archon did not know her, but she already seemed unsympathetic to her.

"You probably think you already know everything about Cigam Academy, but you're just a bunch of ignorant people. Forget everything you think you know. Maybe a former graduate has seen fit to tell you about it, what do I know? Erase everything you've been told from your little brains."

Lys's first impression was the right one.

"Each course at Cigam is different," continued the director. "You will study tirelessly for three years without having any contact with the outside world. From now on, you will only be able to rely on yourself; your family, as powerful and influential as it is, will not help you. I hope that is well understood."

As always, new rules have been introduced while others have been abolished, the woman said. The teaching staff has decided to allow fights between students in the arenas reserved for this purpose; however, no fight to the death will be allowed. I hope this is clear, because anyone who breaks this rule will be immediately expelled from the Academy. You know what that means: break this rule and you can say goodbye to your chances of becoming your family's heir.

"Among the new rules," announced the director, "you will find a change in the points system. For more information, please refer to Rule 73a bis of the Rules of Procedure."

Annoyed, Lys stopped listening. Her parents had lectured her several times before she left to make sure she used her power responsibly... And avoiding boredom was not a good reason to use his power, they said. But her parents weren't there, and no one would notice, so why would she deprive herself?
