Clearing her throat, Lys started moving forward again, followed by her friend, and restarted the conversion where they had been, as if nothing had happened:
"So I was saying: are there other new rules?"
Rarama glared at him. She was not fooled, she knew very well that the Achron was trying to divert her attention to make her forget her anger. However, she decided to let it go and continue her explanations.
"There are changes about the library, but they haven't been developed more than that. Romantic relations are allowed and even strongly recommended between members of the same species, but strictly forbidden between different species. Any breach of this rule..."
"Let me guess," Lys interrupted, rolling her eyes. ""Failure to do so will result in immediate dismissal." It's redundant, don't you think?"
"Those are the words of the director," said the Lympyre, shrugging her shoulders.
The young girl gave a sideways glance at Lys, who was biting her lips. Her friend seemed against the last rule, but Rarama understood the necessity of it. Over time, the blood of the six major species—Achrons, Electromancers, Golds, Lympyres, Walkers, and Vampires—had thinned and lost power. Hybrids and children without powers had emerged. To avoid the decline of the six major species, relationships between species were now severely reprimanded – despite the fact that there was no law prohibiting them.
For the moment, at least.
The mass of students suddenly stopped, so that the two girls narrowly missed bumping into the person in front of them. The silence fell suddenly, heavy and oppressive.
They were in front of the internal doors of the Academy.
