"Are you ready?" Megan asked Jared, adjusting his tie.
"As ready as can be," he told her. "Thanks for helping, by the way."
"I'm just happy I finally got that stupid cast off," she grumbled.
Jared smiled in amusement.
Megan had been able to get to her cast replaced about a month ago and was wearing a brace most of the time. She had been making steady progress with her injuries, and both of them were almost back to normal. It felt like a miracle.
"I think you still look like a bad ass. The bad boy finally got his bad girl," Jared teased her.
She rolled her eyes, finishing her work and stepping back to check that Jared's tie was to her satisfaction.
"Don't remind me," she retorted.
Jared laughed, pulling her in. He was careful not to mess with her hair, knowing Megan would get annoyed. It was still short, but it had started growing again. She had it styled in loose waves for the wedding.
"Reyna looks beautiful," Megan said as they walked towards the doors.
They nodded in agreement.
Reyna was finally walking down the aisle today.
Everyone had managed to convince her not to push her wedding off for another year, so she had compromised for a late summer wedding. They had all come together to give Reyna and her fiancé a destination wedding, mostly so they could be somewhere that wasn't insanely hot for the summer.
Megan walked to her seat, waiting for the bridal party to come down the aisle. It was a small wedding, something Reyna and Travis had wanted to do after everything that had happened. It was a miracle that they hadn't lost anyone. Megan took her seat next to her dad, finally able to spend time with him again.
"How are you?" her dad asked.
"I'm good. I'm excited for Reyna and Travis. Reyna looks beautiful," Megan commented.
She had popped in earlier to check in on the bride and help with some last minute things.
"Have you told Jared yet?" her dad questioned.
Megan shook her head, picking some lint off of her dress.
"I was planning to tell him at the reception. I didn't want him distracted for his sister's wedding," she confessed.
Her dad laid a hand on her shoulder and smiled sympathetically. He knew that it wasn't easy, and his daughter and her boyfriend had already been through so much. He didn't want their future to resemble his relationship with Megan's mother. It hadn't been easy, and there had been more heartbreak than anything else.
"I hope it goes well," he told her.
She smiled gratefully, and the two of them turned their attention to the aisle as the music started up.
Emma and Mady, Reyna and Jared's cousins were the flower girls and walked down the aisle, sprinkling flowers until they reached their parents. Reyna's mother and Jared walked down the aisle next, Jared winking at Megan as he and his mom walked to their seats. Reyna came in last, her arm in her dad's.
Reyna's wedding dress was off the shoulder, the lace hugging her skin snugly. The skirt pooled out at the bottom, the tulle underneath it giving it some additional volume. It was simple, but elegant, which had been what Reyna was looking for. Her hair was done in a soft updo, with her makeup giving her a soft glow.
Megan smiled at Reyna as Reyna and Travis took their places. They exchanged their vows, and just like that, they were married. Megan stood up with the others as the couple made their exit. They would all be heading to the reception next.
