The Cleaners First Mission

       So my medic said I was good enough to go on this mission...I already have my ammunition and was set...but I looked back to my squad..it feels uncanny not going with them...I looked down...I sighed...looked at them again and I noticed Jack starring..still has not said a word to me...I mean what I did was right...I have no regrets at all... I guess we shall talk when I get back... I head to the cleaners area and saw them sitting around this round table..which had maps and papers on..guessing those were the plans... Clover saw me and greeted me "Aye Drake, you're coming with us?"  I said "Yes I am"  He smiled and said, "Sweet, glad you are on board with us!!"  I smiled and said "Yeah me too..just feels weird without anyone else in my squad... I just have to trust you guys with my back..you already have my trust with your back"  He nodded and said, "Come hear out our plan.." 

So we were planning and figuring out our moves for almost an hour... I had no say in the matter because I was just here to help... the captain wasn't coming this time since he has a lot of paperwork from last mission he never finished... 

We planned to head out tomorrow early in the morning...so, for now, we just sat and talked...

I noticed they were anxious...because it was just them and well me...I said "Look guys, when my squad went out for the first mission we were afraid, nervous, and didn't trust each other...please don't make the same mistake we done by going in this mission as we did...you guys have the strong bond, you all trust each other..so just rely on one another to get you through this mission... this mission will probably be the easiest one since its not very far from base..you guys will do amazing and I am here to help you kick ass!"  They all cheered ...but deep down I knew this mission is going to be a shit show... this is their first mission and we were supposed to search this town for more nuclear weapons...our first mission was hard enough...Clover was starring at me ...he knew something was wrong, but he didn't want to bring down his fellow mates... 

I got up to get water and he followed of course... He said "What's wrong"  I said "Well, this is going to be one tricky mission...it's me and you guys...our first mission was hard enough...I don't know I might be overthinking..."  Clover said "No I was thinking the same...Hey have you and Jack make up yet?"  I said, "No, hasn't talked to me since..why would I chat with him when I did nothing wrong.." Clover just nodded...

It was at midnight some tried to sleep...I couldn't sleep one blink... I just kept thinking about this mission...I looked around everyone seemed to be sleeping... I then figured why not try

So I tried to sleep...30 minutes later I fell asleep...around 3 am I woke up ... I guess I could sleep haha

Clover woke up next said, "Why are you up?"  I said "I could ask you the same thing"  He laughed and agreed but said "I don't know...Bad dream..."  I nodded .. I got ready and said: "No point of going back to sleep...we have to wake up in 2 more hours so..."  He nodded 

We both gotten ready and sat outside....there were others up obviously...Marines don't sleep...thats why we try getting sleep before a big mission...

1 hour went by and everyone woke up and gotten ready.. we started leaving ...we had to pass my squad...

Clover patted my shoulder ...while I was looking at them.. they were starring at us...then their eyes landed on me... I looked forward...Not wanting to show them I'm nervous... 

My captain "DRAKE come here quick"  I stopped and ran to him ...He said, "Look, Drake, I am sorry for making you go with them, but your a great soldier, you'll teach them...just come back ok?"  I gave him a small smiled and nodded .. I walked back to the group... my eyes skimmed over my squad...they all gave me a nod...I gave one back... 

It took us probably 1 hour to get to the town... things turned worse...there were a lot of civilians here...I sighed and looked at the leader to see what he thinks we should do...he said "Let's go investigate..get partners and go into each house, building, or anything that looks suspicious."  We said alright
