A Day That's a Pain in the Ass

Finishing all your council work in one sitting the very next day after school, you freed up enough slots of your time to prepare for the very special event: Bakugou's birthday.

In his misfortunate alignment of stars, the oldest and first victim of your sweet proposal to Class A's calendar was their most hard to please angry puffball, who had been kept in the dark about the whole thing in his classmates own way of avenging themselves for his attitude over the years and for him muting their class group chat.

You giggled at the future imagery of his reaction to the surprise party, checking the clock on the wall while you finished up bordering the counter with shiny orange tinsel shimmering with flakes of elegant bronze and at last following the final look of Heights Alliance's first floor.

The classic, black tablecloths that adorned the dining tables had a simple yet nice touch of place mats and a sparkling centerpiece. Orange, black, dark green, and red streamers fell in woven rings to adorn the high walls in coordination with metallic gold foil to pop the atmosphere with glittering color.

You thought using his hero colors would be the best way to keep him eating this whole matter up. Hopefully, he wouldn't slither away to his room.

Kirishima had made sure to keep an ear on his dorm neighbor's movements all afternoon while you set up downstairs, nearly ruining the surprise when Bakugou almost made it past him for a glass of water.

"Happy birthday!"

The chorus of celebration ended messily with mixtures of different names for the scowling person unveiled by the elevator door - Bakugou, Bakubro, Kaachan would never show appreciation for his classmates throwing some rager on his behalf.

Before he could whip up some hypocritical yells of how unnecessarily loud they were being and yank himself back into the elevator, Kirishima, who was also taking the view for the first time, pointed around the common room in awe, "It's your colors, bro! And there's your favorite takeout too! And woah, there's presents over there! And Y/N! Hey!"

At the sound of your name, Bakugou's sharp eyes ran through the crowd until they located your face peeking behind Sero and Mina and smiling at Kirishima's sudden callout.

He had come down here to get food after all...

"Out of my way, I'm fucking starving," he stormed off to the steaming cups of ramen laid out on the kitchen counter, leaving Class A to whip up cries of joy and celebration.

Bakugou had had it up to here with this shitty party.

Once upon a time, Bakugou Katsuki was excited for his birthday. A full day all about him, getting presents, and receiving more adoring praises on top of the ones he got any other day? His already inflated head was signed the fuck up every year until he hit puberty.

After that, birthdays just seemed like a huge pain in the ass especially when they were annoyingly extravagant like when his parents took him to a nice restaurant for his thirteenth birthday and the waiter brought out a cake. He had blasted it all over the expensive mantle with a violent "Die, sugar!" and his mom had smacked him upside the head for getting them banned from ever returning.

When he got to UA, his birthday became an even bigger trouble to him than he thought it would be - all thanks to people who wouldn't ever leave him alone when he told them to fuck off and mind their business.

The first time it came around after that shit year of the League and his million fuck ups, Kirishima gathered the guys and had a cake in his shitty room, and the once faceless followers of his childhood that had only ever congratulated him in the most superficial show of friendship possible had suddenly been brought up in his mind. What a pain in the ass.
