My eyes fluttered open. Sunlight streamed through the broken clouds, so bright it stung. I raised a shaky hand to shield my face, blinking against the golden glow. Slowly, I pushed myself upright, every muscle aching like I’d been torn apart and stitched back together.
“Fourth?” My voice was hoarse. I reached for him, shaking his shoulder.
He stirred, his lashes fluttering open. His pale face softened as he met my gaze.
We sat there for a moment, breathing in silence, the world strangely still. Then reality crashed back.
Bodies.
They were scattered all around us—our friends lying motionless on the damp ground. My heart lurched. I stumbled to my feet, forcing my legs to carry me to Satang and Winny.
“Guys?” I called, voice trembling, shaking their shoulders.
“Mmh…” Satang groaned, cracking one eye open. “Oww… my back.” He winced, struggling to sit up.
Relief flooded me. One by one, they stirred. Winny sat up groggily, while I hurried to Joong and Dunk. Their clothes were stiff with dried blood, faces pale.
“Joong?” I whispered. My heart nearly stopped—until Joong’s fingers twitched. His eyelids fluttered open, Dunk’s shortly after.
The cross, the relics, the shadows—all gone. Only silence and exhaustion remained.
I coughed, crimson blooming on my palm. My body felt heavy, like it wasn’t entirely my own.
“Gemini…” The Father’s voice came weakly from behind. I didn’t turn; my eyes were fixed on the house, now nothing but smoldering ruins.
“The house…” he rasped.
Everyone followed my gaze.
“You should’ve burned it before me,” I said softly, my voice hoarse but steady. “It was the source.”
Joong and Dunk exchanged a glance. “Let’s go to the hospital first,” Fourth murmured, his voice low but firm. He stood, his hand finding mine, grounding me in the wreckage of our nightmare.

“Thanks,” Joong said to the nurse, his voice quiet but warm. She nodded, finishing the last of his bandages.
The antiseptic smell of the hospital clung to us like a reminder of everything we’d survived. Dunk offered Joong his arm. “Slowly,” he murmured, helping him stand.
One by one, we were discharged, scattered back to our homes like pieces of a shattered puzzle.
“Gemini.”
I turned. Fourth was standing in the hallway, his hand outstretched. Father was with him, leaning on a cane but smiling softly.
“I never thought things would move so quickly,” Father Lee said, voice full of weariness and warmth. “But thank you… for realizing everything in the end.” He reached out, patting my shoulder gently, before handing me a small, wrapped parcel.
“What’s this?” I asked, clutching it carefully.
“A Bible,” he said with a smile. “For you.”
A strange warmth filled my chest. I ran my thumb along the cover reverently, feeling its weight.
“Let’s go,” Fourth said softly, tugging at my arm.
“Where?” I asked, blinking at him.
“My house.” His smile was small but reassuring.
For the first time, I realized… I had nowhere else to go.
