Gemini was still under possession when the spirits dragged him back home. The moment they reached, the invisible force around him faded, and the spirits materialized in front of him. His body, frail and drained from the earlier exorcism, collapsed onto the bed like a lifeless doll.
"I'LL KILL FOURTH!" Nina shrieked, her voice sharp as a blade, hissing like a serpent as she roamed the room, furious.
"He's brave, isn't he?" Akin growled, slamming his fist on the table hard enough to crack the surface. "I'll shatter that braveness in a nanosecond."
"Why...?" Gemini managed to whisper, his voice so faint it was barely audible. His limbs refused to move. He was helpless, worn out from years of spiritual torment.
Nina's eyes burned with rage as she placed her hand over Gemini's chest, pressing down where his heart beat weakly. Gemini's breath hitched. He tried to cry out, to resist, but nothing came. His voice was gone. His body no longer belonged to him.
"Stop it, Nina," Sawin said firmly, appearing beside her. With a quick motion, he removed her hand and vanished the spiritual energy from Gemini's chest.
"Are you stupid? He's going to die!" she hissed at him, trembling with anger.
"LET HIM DIE THEN!" Nina screamed, her voice shaking the walls. "I told him not to interact with Fourth! I warned him again and again-and he still did it!"
"Nina, it's not his fault," Kiwe said, trying to calm her. "We need to do something before-"
"Nothing will happen," Ave interrupted coldly, her eyes fixed on the fragile boy on the bed. "We'll take him when he turns twenty. That's the deal."
All the spirits stood still, their energy crackling in the air, their dark gazes fixed on Gemini. He lay unmoving, unable to speak, unable to look at them. He was caught in a prison of his own body, his grip tightening faintly on the blanket beneath him-the only sign he was still fighting, even if barely.
......
The next morning, Father awoke with a groan, his body aching all over. The room was in disarray. His men had fled during the night-too afraid to stay after what they witnessed.
He looked over and saw Fourth lying unconscious on the floor, his face pale.
"Fourth..." Father whispered, struggling to sit upright as he held his aching head. He reached for the water bottle beside him and splashed cold water on the boy's face.
Fourth stirred, groaning softly as his eyes fluttered open. He looked around slowly, dazed.
"Father... are you okay?" he asked weakly, moving closer and catching his arm. "Try to stand. Come on."
With effort, he helped the older man to his feet and supported him toward the restroom.
Inside, Father sat down on the edge of the bed, sighing deeply as he held Fourth's hand. "Fourth, this isn't something simple anymore. You should walk away from him. Staying will only bring you pain."
Fourth looked down at their intertwined hands. His voice trembled when he finally spoke. "When the spirits grabbed my throat... I saw it," he whispered. "He tried to stop them. Just for a second, his hand hesitated. I saw it in his eyes. He couldn't fight them, but he tried."
Tears glistened in Fourth's eyes as he looked up. "He does care about me... doesn't he?"
Father stared at him quietly for a moment. "He doesn't want to hurt you. That much is clear," he said softly, brushing his hand gently through Fourth's hair. "But even if that's true-" He paused. "Fourth, I don't want anything to happen to you. Leave him... please."
