It started off with a simple wave at school. Now, these two were planning dates. Nene thought of how bizarre it was that she would get a girlfriend. She was so lucky it was Mizuki Akiyama even as annoying as they could be. Eventually, Mizuki had made it.

"Fashionably late Mizuki..."

"So what you're saying is I look cute?"

Nene sighed. Of course that's what they'd take away from that. She wasn't surprised when Mizuki held her hand and led her off to wherever the hell they were planning to go. It was the day of the summer festival, Mizuki had invited her out on a date about a week ago with Nene agreeing. She planned her outfit five days in advance. It's hard to get used to dates with the most prettiest person you knew.

The summer festival, despite it being summer, was all cool outside with the stars high in the sky. There was laughter and warm conversations all around. Nene couldn't help but wonder where Mizuki would end up being? Maybe a game?

"Cotton candy! We can make our own cotton candy nene!" Mizuki dragged her over to this little 'DIY' cotton candy stand. Nene decided to go first. Making cotton candy was a bit confusing but she got the hang of it after awhile. It came out a pretty green, matching her hair. When it was Mizuki's turn, they had a little bit more trouble at first.

"Here.." Nene placed her hand on Mizuki's and adjusted it slightly to help them make the cotton candy. This made Mizuki settle down and get all serious making the cotton candy. The pink puff came out and wrapped around the stick delicately. Mizuki got even more focused, sticking their tongue out. It was a little silly, but cute.

"Ah, if it isn't Nene and Mizuki. My two dear friends." A familiar voice called out. It could be none other than...

"Hey Rui!"

"What do you want."

The two had very polar reactions, making the silly Rui Kamishiro chuckle.

"It's just not often I see Nene outside. Good job on getting her outside Mizuki. I bet she gets very excited each time you talk to her. In fact at rehearsal yesterday-"

Nene pulls Mizuki away before they heard anything. But she couldn't help but think about what he said. Usually whenever she's around Mizuki she can forget she's in public, but Rui unknowingly made her aware of it again.

Mizuki could notice how tightly Nene was squeezing her hand now and decided to take action to do something for her.

They pulled her out. Away from the people. Away from the bright lights. Away from the noise. Away from everything. It was just them.

"There's a lake here?"

Mizuki hummed in acknowledgment and sat down while Nene followed. They didn't say anything for a second.

"We should eat the cotton candy. I bet it tastes real sweet! Just like you." Mizuki winked at Nene while she seemed focused on the lake. Curiously, Mizuki followed her gaze to the sight in front of them. Fireflies surrounded the lake. It was like they came out just for them. A sound of awe escaped Mizuki's lips. The way they danced around and flickered. It was surprisingly mesmerizing.

Nene was torn away from her thoughts by fluffy sweetness entering her mouth and a similarly pink tuft of hair looking at her. Nene nodded as if she was approving of the cotton candy before pointing directly at Mizuki.

"You make a better cotton candy."

"Eh-?" Mizuki didn't even get to process what Nene said before their lips met in a kiss.

Nene pulled back after awhile, blushing while muttering. "Why the hell did I do that..?"

Mizuki just smiles at her. Smiling a dumb little grin until Nene asked about it.

"What."

"That was the first time you ever surprised me with a kiss."

"Ugh..." Nene swatted Mizuki even though their absolutely prideful grin stayed.

"Nene really does love me after all!" Mizuki grasped Nene's hand, "I love you too!"

"I know. You said it a billion times." Nene relented and held their hand back.

"I wanna try your cotton candy next though."

Mizuki got Nene's green cotton candy and pulled a little piece out and placed it on their tongue to watch it melt.

"Is it good?"

"Mmmm...yeah."

The two took the time to eat the sugary fluffiness together.

"You know pink and green are a great color combo."

"Why's that?" Nene raised a curious eyebrow.

"Well green and pink are complementary colors, opposite to each other on the color wheel. They just fit together. Just like us!"

"Huh..yeah. Just like us."
