A prison cell. That was not what Ana wanted to hear. She could feel her heart rate picking up as she contemplated a life behind bars in a house full of werewolves. Or at least three werewolves. But this place looked as though it housed more than three people. It was huge.
A pack of werewolves. She hadn't missed him saying that. Like a pack of wolves? Was that where she was? In a pack of werewolves? She wanted to ask questions, but now was definitely not the time. It seemed as though she already knew too much as it was, and Aidan wasn't likely to tell her much else.
Her thoughts drifted to Malachi Remington and the fact that he'd told her he was in charge. Was he their leader? The leader of this pack? And she'd pulled a gun on him like an idiot. She still wanted to kick herself for that one. She supposed that at this point, she should consider herself lucky to be alive. Even if she was going to a prison cell. And her fate was in Aidan's hands. A man she was so attracted to, she could barely keep her mind off of him.
She still couldn't wrap her head around the fact that he was a werewolf. She'd let a werewolf fuck her. In her wildest fantasies, that hadn't been a thing. Frankly, he looked rather human to her. Incredibly gorgeous, but still human. And the pleasure he'd brought her when he'd fucked her? Well, truthfully, he hadn't confirmed it, but she really was pretty certain he was. She supposed if he was feeling generous, she'd find out for sure.
"Come on, Detective," Aidan said again, tossing her bag over his shoulder and heading out the door.
Ana sighed softly, wondering where he was taking her. To prison, he'd said. She was a bit surprised he hadn't put her in cuffs. Maybe he trusted her not to do anything stupid, though she doubted it. He had patted her down. She followed him out of the room and back into the large area near the entrance. She eyed the front door quietly. Freedom. Not that she'd get far. She already knew that. She didn't even have her car keys. And given how fit Aidan was, he'd probably be able to outrun her.
"Don't even think about it," Aidan told her.
She glanced up at him and saw him eyeing her. She shivered. She loved having his eyes on her. "I don't think I'd get very far."
"You'd be right about that."
"What about my rental car?"
"Someone will return it. Don't worry about it," he said smoothly as he hit the button for the elevator.
He'd hit the Up button, she noticed, and wondered about that. If she were going to house criminals in this place, it would be in the basement, not upstairs. She also noticed he wasn't watching her every move. But she remembered her father's comment about Nolan's heightened senses. Aidan was probably very aware of her every move. Just like she was his, but only because she could still barely keep her eyes off of him.
Aidan stepped on the elevator when the door opened, and Ana followed him inside. He hit a button for the fourth floor. Maybe they kept prisoners as far away from the door as possible? This was all rather weird.
Her gaze darted back over to him once the door was shut, and she realized he was staring at her. She decided to take a chance. She wanted to know more about him, this man that she was still incredibly attracted to, even though he seemed indifferent to her. She had a feeling he was probably annoyed that he'd gotten saddled with her simply because they knew each other. If she had known he was going to be here, maybe she would have thought twice about coming. No, that was bullshit. She still would have come. Just so she could get another look at him, and maybe beg him to fuck her again. "Are you really not human?"
Aidan was on her in a second. He flipped her around, pressing her against the wall of the elevator, his hand around her throat as he pressed his body up against hers. "What do you think?"
Her breath caught at his behavior, and her body reacted immediately, as pure liquid heat ran through her, igniting her body on fire for him.
She quickly became aware of two things. One, the elevator had stopped, and two, something very hard was pressed into her lower back. Aidan was definitely not immune to her. "No," she whispered as she felt his nose run up the side of her neck. She felt something sharp graze against her, and she couldn't help the moan that escaped her lips. If he decided he wanted to fuck her right there in the elevator, she was game. This man had complete control over her body, whether he realized it or not.
"And you'd be correct," he said against her ear before he pulled away from her, leaving her suddenly cold from the loss of his body heat.
She turned and watched him hit the button to start the elevator back up. She quickly realized she had no idea what sort of rules applied to werewolves. Obviously not the same ones that applied to humans, especially if they had no qualms about taking her prisoner. Aidan could move incredibly fast, and she had a feeling Malachi had as well when she'd pulled the gun on him. She'd underestimated them, and she was probably no match for them either.
But the thing that made her giddy was knowing that Aidan wasn't completely unaffected by her. He was aroused, too. Did he feel this connection between them? She has no idea.
The elevator dinged, and Aidan stepped towards her, took her arm, and led her into a room that looked similar to the one they'd left. This one just didn't have a front door.
Ana's gaze darted around. The place reminded her of an apartment building. Not a prison. She glanced up at Aidan, wondering what was really happening. The word surreal kept popping up in her mind, and she breathed out slowly and fought the urge to ask him questions.
He led her down the hallway and finally stopped in front of a door and opened it, then stepped out of the way and motioned for her to walk in. She wanted to balk, but she also wouldn't put it past him to force her in. Instead, she walked inside and glanced around, her mouth dropping open.
It was an apartment with a kitchen, a living room, and a hallway with several doors. It was nice. Much nicer than she would have expected. The floors were hardwood and covered in rugs, and the furniture looked quite comfortable. The place looked lived in. Somewhat. If this was their idea of a prison, then she could handle it.
Aidan stepped in behind her and closed the door, then walked around her, setting her gun and vest down on the table. "Come on."
She followed him down a hallway, noticing five doorways. There was a room on either side, followed by a bathroom on one side and a doorway that he stopped in front of on the other side. The last door straight ahead was closed. Aidan opened the door he was standing in front of and walked inside.
Ana followed him in and was surprised to find a bedroom. A nice bedroom. It was decorated in shades of blue and had a queen-size bed. This was her prison cell? Okay, so maybe werewolves were nicer than humans? She scoffed at that. Somehow, she doubted it. They weren't letting her leave. This whole situation was rather odd.
Aidan had left her gun and vest out on the kitchen table. He set her bag down on the bed and unzipped it, then began to look through it.
Panic hit her. He was not going through her stuff. "What are you doing?" she protested, stepping forward and reaching for his arm.
"Making sure you don't have any other weapons inside here," he responded, ignoring her touch.
Ana reached for the bag. "That's personal. I don't need you rifling through my underwear, Aidan! I don't have any weapons in there."
He moved it out of her reach and, to her horror, pulled out her vibrator. The one thing she hadn't wanted him to find.
