"Ana, if you really want to keep your job, I will make it work. I will figure it out." He let go of her hair and her hand and turned on his side again so he could look at her.
She realized at that point that she had no idea what he did. Did werewolves work? "Do you?"
"Do I what?" He frowned at her.
"Have a job?"
"I do." Well that was surprising. "I'm a pack liaison and I also work for Remington Enterprises. I was actually in St. Louis with Xavier on business when I met you."
Remington Enterprises. That was the multi trillion dollar company she'd looked up. No wonder he'd had expensive, tailored three piece suits hanging in his garment bag. She supposed he probably had plenty of money to support them both. But it sounded like he was very busy. "Do you work a lot?"
"Probably not as much as you do. But I do work quite a bit. Mainly because I didn't have a mate." Something flashed in his eye but was gone before she could identify it. But she could understand. He'd become a workaholic because he was lonely.
"And if I wasn't working, what would I do?" She couldn't sit here waiting for him to come home. She'd go stir crazy. Be bored out of her mind. And constantly wondering what he was up to.
"Come with me. See the world with me. We can do that anyways. But if you decide you want to become a werewolf, we literally have all the time in the world. If you want to still be a detective and retire as one, you can do that and then after that you can see the world with me," he said calmly.
He was offering her so much more than she'd expected. So much more. Basically a dream life. "What about kids?"
"What about them?"
"Do you want kids?"
His expression didn't change. "Only if you do. And we could choose to have them whenever we want. If you choose to become a werewolf, your body will pretty much stop right here with aging. We can wait and have kids like a hundred years from now if you want. Or we can start trying right now." His eyes flashed again and he smirked at her.
"Aidan!" How could he turn her on with just a look? She was so attracted to the man, it was unreal.
He smiled at her. "My point is we have options. Lots of options. But I need you to think about this and decide what you want to do. If you choose to be with me, it's permanent. There's no divorce. You'll be stuck with me forever."
And the idea of that didn't frighten her. She wanted the security of being with a man who would always be faithful to her. Her exs hadn't been. "Okay."
"And Ana? Just because you choose to be with me doesn't mean that you have to become a werewolf. I will still be with you. I don't care. I will always take care of you and love you no matter what."
Those words were what practically sealed the deal for her. The fact that he would remain with her and take care of her and love her until she died was so sweet. "Does it hurt? Becoming a werewolf?"
"No. But you're going to have to drink somebody's blood."
Ew. "Seriously?" Who was somebody? Not his? If she had to drink somebody's blood, she'd rather it was Aidan's.
"Yes, that's the worst part of it." He smiled at her, and took her hand in his again.
"Can it be your blood?" Ew. How the heck could she drink somebody's blood? And not his? It was weird.
"No. Not all werewolves have the ability to change humans into werewolves. If you were to ask a werewolf outside of our pack, if a human could become one, they would tell you no. Only the Alpha Kings, past, present and future have the ability to do that. So more than likely it would probably be Xavier or Malachi who changed you. Or someone else," he muttered.
