Chapter 40

Aidan walked out of the bedroom, closing the door behind him. He breathed out slowly, then walked into his own room, taking several deep breaths of air untainted by Ana's scent. He snorted. Like her scent wasn't all over him.

That's what he got for acting irrationally in the elevator and pressing his body up against hers. His canines had immediately popped out and the need to mate and mark her had hit him like a freight train. Somehow, he'd managed to rein it back in.

But when it came to Ana, all bets were off. He wasn't going to be thinking rationally around her. He just needed to keep that tight grip on his control and not let it slip through his fingers like it was threatening to do.

But it had been so worth feeling her plump rounded ass against his dick. Yes, it had just made him hornier, but still... he wanted nothing more than to go back into her room and mate her. And he had a feeling she more than likely would let him. But then she might hate him afterwards, something he wasn't trying to earn from her. It was bad enough that he'd felt a bit of hatred towards her, though that had mostly disappeared since she'd dropped back into his life and now he knew how to find her. 

He still couldn't believe the ties she had back to the mess with Xavier. That was still a shock. What a small world.

And then another thought occurred to him. If Aidan mated her, one day she would be the Royal Beta Female, his mate and Beta Female to Xavier. How would Xavier feel about that?Are you okay with all of this? With me being mated to her? Aidan linked Xavier.

Yes. I can't be that selfish and demand you reject your mate because of her father's crimes. According to Trevor, she's had a stellar career as a Detective. I highly doubt she was aware of any of it, and if she was, she probably would have never showed up here in person to bring me my things, when she could have just as easily mailed them anonymously. I honestly thought they'd been destroyed in the plane crash.

What are you going to do? Does she know she's your mate?

No. Though I think I'm going to probably just tell her the truth about that. All of it. Then she can decide if she wants to be my mate or not, and if not, I can reject her. 

You know how bad this could go.

Death. At worse, if Ana chose not to be with him and couldn't keep her mouth shut, she would be killed. The sacrifice of one to protect the many. Yes, I'm aware. 

Killing her is an absolute last resort, but if she doesn't want to be with you, we need to trust her to keep the secret.

I know. Aidan ran a hand through his hair. I need to make her fall for me, though I think right now she hates me. 

You might just need to seduce her, Aidan. Remind her how good the sex is with you. You already know she wants you. That was apparent, Xavier said in exasperation. 

Aidan rolled his eyes but didn't respond to that. Xavier was right, and they both knew it. Bianca?

She's in her room.

Yeah, no problem. 

Aidan pulled out his phone and glanced at the time. Zane should be here at any moment, and he needed to go talk to Bianca. Maybe he could leave Zane here with Ana while he spoke to her. It would be super awkward if he showed up at Bianca's door with Ana in tow. Ana who had no idea what was going on. He sighed softly. Of everything that might possibly happen, this was not at all what he'd expected. He never thought to see Ana again.
