AUTHOR'S POV
Yash sat cross-legged on the soft carpet, surrounded by puzzles and toys, but his mind was far from the playful scene around him. Little Janhvi, was animatedly chatting away about her day, her excitement palpable as she recounted their trip to the garden.
"Mamu, you should have seen the pink flowers! They were so big and beautiful!" she exclaimed, her small hands gesturing wildly in the air.
But Yash wasn't hearing her. His mind was clouded, replaying the video message from Janhvi—his sunshine, his wife—over and over in his head. How could he forgive his family? He didn't want to, yet her words echoed in his heart, he cant fulfil all her wishes so he wants to fulfil at least one of her wish and that is forgiving his family. He knew he had to, even if every fiber of his being resisted.
"Mamu!" Little Janhvi's voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
Yash blinked, his attention jolting back to the present. "Yeah, princess?" he responded, his voice gentle.
She pouted, crossing her tiny arms over her chest and looking up at him and said "You're not listening to me! I was telling you about the flowers, and you didn't even hear me!"
Yash smiled apologetically, reaching out to pat her head. "No, princess, I was listening. I heard everything."
She raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Really?"
Yash chuckled softly, nodding. "Really, princess. I was just... thinking for a second."
Before he could say more, the door creaked open, and Varun stepped in he took in the sight of Yash sitting on the floor, looking at little Janhvi as she stood with her arms still crossed scolding her Mamu.
Varun grinned. "Choti, your mamma is calling you. She made chocolate milkshake for you."
At the mention of chocolate, little Janhvi's eyes lit up with excitement. "Yay!" she exclaimed, all traces of her earlier disappointment vanishing. She quickly turned to Yash, her face glowing. "Mamu, do you want some too?"
Yash smiled, shaking his head. "No, princess. You enjoy it."
She beamed, her joy infectious, and dashed out of the room, her excitement carrying her down the stairs.
As the room quieted, Varun walked over and crouched beside Yash, his expression shifting from light-hearted to serious. He studied Yash for a moment before speaking.
"So, what are you thinking about your future?" Varun asked, his tone casual but his eyes probing.
Yash frowned, looking up at his brother-in-law and asked "What do you mean?"
Varun didn't back down. "You know what I'm talking about, Yash. I'm asking about your marriage."
Yash's expression darkened, his demeanor shifting. "Bhai, there's nothing to talk about it. I'm not interested, he said leaving no room for argument.
Varun leaned forward, "Yash, we are talking about your life, You've been carrying this for so long, shutting everyone out. Maybe it's time to let someone in."
Yash's eyes flashed with a hint of anger. "Please, bhai. I don't want to discuss about this.
Varun sighed, realizing that pushing further would be pointless. "Alright, Yash. But just remember, you don't have to do this alone."
